advice for a noob

Hey everyone! Could I ask for some advice? I'm working on a story for my boyfriend, but I've never written anything for a male audience before and I'm a bit stumped. I know he has a pirate fantasy, so I have a setting to work with. I'm like writing M/f bdsm and he's a switch, which is convenient. But here's where it gets complicated: when I tried to get more of a hint about the details of his pirate fantasy (he doesn't know I'm writing this, it's part of his awesome birthday present that includes a hot outfit and lots of rope) he told me that if he was a pirate captain he'd want the girl to be a pirate captain too and they would do pirate things together...
So not only do I not have any experience with writing for men, but I've also never written about pirates and I don't really understand his fantasy (I would've guessed something like pirate&wench or pirate&pirate hunter).
Anyway, I would really really appreciate any advice from guys on what they would like to read in a story like this (either in general or specific things that might turn them on) or women who have had success writing for male readers. Thank you sooooo much for any comments!

Rival Pirate captains meet in a tavern by coincidence... at first it looks like a fight between the rival crews might cause trouble. The Captains settle on a contest, cards or darts or something. The losing Captain's crew must find another bar, and the losing Captain must submit to the others bed chamber for one night! Anything goes.... insert liberal amounts of BDSM and the let the fun begin!

Another option (though i like JoshuaGlynn's too):

They were a part of the same crew for a very brief period...long enough for teasing and some surreptitious groping, but not enough to consummate anything. Then there's a battle, and their ship sinks. Both survive..but don't know the other survived. Flash forward...he and she have become captains and they cross paths again....this time preparing to battle each other at sea. This time the recognize each other...of course they can't just STOP the fight...they just make it more personal. Each gets one chance (which can be pretty lengthy depending on the acts you choose) to make the other beg (for what you can choose). The one who begs loses his or her ship to the other...if both beg...it's a truce.

dont know if your still looking for ideas but anotherr thing you could have is this. the male pirate has captured the female and has her locked up below decks in shakles. you could have her moved around in the room so shes tied by rope over a table or just held by the shakles.

the guy would visit her everyday and use her however he pleased. since she was a captain as well she fights him constantly. eventually she comes to know him and trusts him. he lets her have more of a run of the ship but still uses her everyday.

if he likes humilation stories you could have him tie the female pirate to the wheel and fuck her while driving and on front of the other men.
