Mr. and Mrs. Smith hadn’t been married many years, Billy loved his wife Amanda, and he felt sure she loved him back, but somehow, it’d become a lot of routine the last couple of years. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, it was life, but sometimes that didn’t matter, because it was supposed to be fun filled, wasn’t it? Those had been his thoughts when he’d started saving up for this little luxury adventure, three weeks at sea, dining, drinks, and dancing on the decks surrounded by blue ocean. And now, the day was here.
As they boarded and showed their upper quarter pass to the approvingly nodding reception clerk, Billy thought back to the night when he’d first shown her the tickets, with parasol drinks, and a good snack to eat. They made love fairly regularly, Amanda and him, but that night had been particular. It had been like a long time ago, filled with passion and fantasies, spurred on by the liquid and the dream of the seas. Billy had liked that, and it was not without a certain anticipation he now rolled their cases into the elevator, hit the button for the cloud suites, as they were called, and up they went.
He’d been over a million websites doing the booking, one night, when Amanda had been away. He’d shared a bottle of wine with himself, and at some point all the tabs and all the offers of all the beaches and coves in the world got tangled together, and he did a tab-by-tab hot-or-not until he was left with this one; Body Cruises, strange name, but overall the best impression, mostly from the pictures on the site by now, he wasn’t sure he’d read all the text, or any of it. But now that they were there, he nodded approvingly to himself, moving down the corridor behind his wife, the first impression of his selection was certainly to his liking.
This was strengthened as they opened the door to their quarters. It was big and spacy, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking what was still the port, but that would soon be the blue ocean. There was even a little terrace on which they could stand. He was on his way over to it when he noticed he was missing the envelope with their tickets, their passports, a few other important things.
“I’ll be right back,” he said to Amanda, “Something I forgot”, and without waiting he was out the door and on his way, taking the stairs this time, not waiting for the elevator, kinda anxious about the whereabouts of their personal documents. He didn’t have to worry though, the clerk had it sitting under the desk as he arrived downstairs, “Here you go, sir, I took care of it for you.” Billy nodded and was on his way back up as quick as he’d come down. He didn’t want to keep his wife waiting up there.
Billy took the time to take the elevator this time though. This time, it rose two floors, then slowed down, before the cloud suites. The doors slid open, revealing a woman. She was like most women, he guessed, more or less covered. This woman in particular, was naked. Nude. Billy’s jaw dropped. He didn’t know exactly where to look as she casually came inside with him, making eye contact, giving him a nod, then pressing the astral canopy button, which was a good two buttons above his cloud suites. Then they stood there, like normal, except for the obvious, his floor came, the elevator stopped, and he tripped outside, just raising his glance to catch her, another polite nod, doors closed, the woman was gone.
Billy stumbled into the quarters, smiling to his wife, “You wouldn’t believe it, honey,” he said, grinning, “there was a woman in the elevator, acting all normal, like anyone, except she was completely naked!” He threw his arms up in the air, “What kind of neighbourhood do you think this is anyway? It’s gonna be interesting!”
