Well I wish you luck, there is so much BS that its not worth the money or time. I have posted both as a single male and a couple when I was with someone that was into the scene. Maybe it was just my area of operation but it sucked.

Ex. I would send out lots of honest and respectable emails with a photo as a single male to both single women and couples looking for single males. The rate of return emails were less that 1%, not even a No Thanks.

As a couple, the rate of returned emails were a bit higher but most of them just wanted more photos and for us to give them more detail into out expericance.

Just my two cents based on AFF dynamics and my experiences:

In all honesty, I'd say that Men Seeking Women--because they're a dime a dozen on AFF--have to pay to use the site, but couples and women can have success with a free membership--my husband and I did well with a couple's profile, but we were looking for other men, so we had lots of takers. However, because of the male-to-female ratio on AFF, couples seeking females generally don't have as much success as couples seeking males.

If you're looking to have this other girl join you, then create a couple's profile. A lot of Women Seeking Women don't want a man, so unless your GF's going to be doing some exploring on her own, the two of you should register as a couple.

Keep your expectations realistic. Contrary to what the site promises, AFF is not an all-you-can-screw buffet that delivers instant no-strings-attached sex. That's what hookers are for.

For the most part I agree with everything that's been said in the posts. I don't find posting here to be much different. If you want something, you have to be able to sift through the chaff to find the wheat.

However, my experiences on AFF were a little different, and yes, I was (still am ) a guy looking for a woman. I first joined AFF in 1999 when you actually could get some benefit from a free membership. Maybe it was then and this is now, but from my perspective, it was a huge buffet waiting to be sampled. Parties, one on one meetings, sex (always safe of course -- I have no ambition to experience STD's) and good times. One day, I found a profile of a woman I knew and had lusted after for a couple of years. The next time I saw her, I asked her about it, and we started a relationship that lasted for a few years. When I came back to AFF, it basically sucked. There were no benefits unless you paid for the complete membership which I wasn't willing to do. If you don't mind paying the money, then you might have a good time. Just remember, that it takes all kinds and they all post and just like here, many of the "people", and I use the term loosely, that post as women, are in fact men (boys actually) trying to trap other people.

I wanted to second what El_Cazador999 said. I was a member for a while, and while you can find people on there with the same interestes as you it requires going through fake profiles, inactive profiles, and so on. There are many profiles where the person is not how they describe. There are things like that.

So, I mean if they would get rid of the BS stuff on there it would actually be a fairly decent site. However, you have to sift through a lot of stuff before you can even get in contact with someone, and then of course you have to get to know those people. My opinion is you could probably spend your money a better way. But good luck if you give it a try.

I can't speak about AFF but since it's a sister site to ALT (which I do use) I assume it is a similar experience.

HELLLLLLOOOOOO it's a freaking personals site. Some people will have good experiences, some will have mediocre experiences, some will have totally-sucks-ass expereinces. You will find good people, bad people and total waste of oxygen, resources and genetic material people. Because you are dealing with a website that is, OMG, what a concept, full of people!

People are people. No matter what lifestyle or internet forum they are on. Get over the fact that you are still looking for a needle in a haystack. You've just added another pile of hay to look through. Okay, maybe you want something a little larger than a needle. And hope it's wrapped in a nice tight pair of jeans...

Don't bother e-mailing you will get very few returns for your effort, unless you are a female, looking for a male. In which case, your mailbox will runneth over...

Use the Chat Rooms. You will contact more interesting and active people. In ALT the regional channels often have get-togethers.

Don't hit on people, make friends first. Network, Network, NETWORK! The fun will come if there's a connection, trust me!

I think you'd be better off with CollarMe. Too many fakes on AFF/Alt and they make it very difficult for standard members to do anything.

Not unless they're into BDSM with their threesome or FF sex. Some morons do equate BDSM sites and kinky folks with quick, easy, free fucking, and like to troll submissives for the same reason, but they're sorely mistaken.

There are more than enough sites for the non-kinksters, and CollarMe is NOT geared toward people looking for non-D/s relationships. I wouldn't use it for NSA sex, either, as it seems most members (apart from the wankers and fakes) are looking for some sort of relationship, from good BDSM play partners to lifetime D/s or M/s arrangements. Another good portion of the members aren't looking for more than something platonic, myself included.

However, there are plenty of non-AFF sites that a genuine woman/couple may have more success on. I've had good luck finding men and women on OkCupid and Craigslist, and those would be one of the first places we'd look as a couple.

Another very good option is often the swinging scene. Sites like Swinglifestyle.com and SwingersBoard (though that can be better for info) are helpful and free/cheap. You may also have swingers clubs/groups in your area that you can hook up with, and this route will often save a lot of time by meeting people first, then getting a vibe and seeing if you're compatible. In my experience, swingers are often more fastidious about STD testing and using condoms - it's certainly NOT a guarantee, and you must be careful about oral and skin-skin contact as well, but I'd be more secure with this group than random people off the street/internet in general.

AFF good or bad?

As an older adult male, my experiences (yes "es" I tried it 3 subscription periods) I found that the females were all looking for long term relationships or marriage and the guys were pretty much hung up on sex, so I don't think there were very many relationships established. AFF made out like a fat rat though. Actually, in fairness to AFF, the other "love match" web sites were pretty much the same.....a waste of time and money for the participants and much profit for the site.
