Addictive Computer Games

I suffer from a serious addiction to all those little puzzle-type computer games. I can spend literally days on some of them. Typical f&&*ing male obsessional behavour. I'm such a man.

Are any of you hooked on any games right now?

I've got it bad, mainly because of the PopCap site.

My finger joints haven't ached this much since I was thirteen.

On one of our sites we have an arcade and every now and then I end up getting a bit addiced to one or another of the games. Arkanoid is one I go back to time and time again....I ry to avoid the arcade or I can get stuck in there for hours!

oh and it's www.justchatting.com if anyone is interested *L*

Diablo II is my killer of time. Especially when the upgrade added the Assassin character. I love sneaking up on demons and undead in the dark and eviscerating them.

Civ III is another one I can't seem to stop playing. Although I'm too much of a pacifist to be much good at it.

I had to stop playing all of the games built around the Neverwinter Nights / Tales of the Sword Coast (primary game name eluding me) engine because they were much too interesting and took up enormous amounts of my time. However, I still have a long-standing weakness for Nethack. It's almost childishly simple in graphics, but it has the most remarkable complexity of interaction and the most amusing sense of humor of any game I have ever played. Nearly every item in the thing can interact with nearly every other item, sometimes in amazing ways. Once you realize that you're in a game where someone has honestly considered what might happen if you polymorph into a rock mole and eat your own ring of fire resistance, you know that you're in good hands.

That's Forgotten Realms you're thinking about Shanglan.

I played Baldur's Gate II for a while. I found it a bit overwhelming.

While at my brothers over Christmas I played MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. I could see myself getting addicted to that one, but alas, it never came out for the Mac.

I love my Mac, but the game availability for it sucks.

Way back in 1990 I would spend far to long with "Mac Playmate". The cursor was a large penis, and you had to make this girl come. Gosh it was fun.

I still got one on diskette somewhere. ;)

What can I say? I was a computer nerd back then and that was the best I could do.

Now I'm a writer and that's still the best I can do.

Baldur's Gate II

Ah, thank you. I knew it began with a "B" and my brain kept saying "Bard's Tale," which I knew to be wrong. It would have teased me all day until I went and dug the thing out.

I actually gave away my copy of Championship Manager 4, simply because it eats time. You play for 5 minutes at 9.00 and suddenly it's 3.00am! Bloody thing.

Civilisation III falls into exactly the same category; you're always in the middle of something, so you'll just take one more turn just to research this/build this/invade them. There's always one bit of the master plan that you just have to finish; just one bit!

Most massively multiplayers can be trouble for me. Right now it's Star Wars Galaxies, but now it's compounded as I was just voted guild leader. I guess people like me or something. :)

You might be thinking of the Bard's Spoon? Or the Spoony Bard? I think it was the Spoony Bard.

Anyways, I usually stick to Tripeaks or Soldier of Fortune II. Right now I'm in the black in Tripeaks which is damn good especially after recoving from a 1,000 dollars in the red.

I am not really addicted to a certain game, but I mostly play NBA Live ...

And when it comes out here in Europe I'll definitly play World of Warcraft. I have played it through the US open Beta ... and that is definitly a game which can get me addicted.

I used to play Everquest a TON. Once I have a new PC up and running I'll be playing World of Warcraft with some friends.

For little flash games, I been playing alot of Alpha Force (current high score holder, of course). :)

www.kontraband.com is where I usually play games.

I've never really liked first person shooters, but when I started playing Unreal Tournament...

Wow! I could hardly stop myself.

I've never played Civ III, but I do have Civ II and am impressed. Don't play anything online, though. Don't want the additional costs.

I cannot decide whether this is a blessing or a curse, but I am physically unable to play first person shooters. Something about the perspective hits a hard-wired motion problem in my brain, and I become motion sick literally within seconds. It's very odd. I loved "Thief" so much that I actually dosed myself with Dramamine in order to play, but even then I had a whanging headache after half an hour and had to go lay down.

Tragic.

I had the Black Isle studios bug for the Baldur's Gate games as well...and I have pretty much controlled my popcap habit.

Right now, the AH fills that spot in my entertainment zone...

MEN! Bah!
all these games centered around violence~ sheesh...
how about a nice addictive game of Sims 2?
i built a house, filled it with people...deleted the doors/windows and added 7 fireplaces...they all died
i have a lovely cemetary now.

yes, but part of the reason I have replaced my video game addiction with the AH is your recent AV's....

I played all those Black Isle games until my eyes almost fell out. I had all the custom packs downloaded and everything. My tendonitis was killing me.

The SIMS was hypnotic but quickly got boring.

Star Wars games are no longer allowed in the house. In fact I can't really play any game, even the online ones, because I get obsessive over them. My addictive personality at work.

If I could ever get into that damn white house in Zork I (after all, the front door IS boarded), I might become addicted to other computer games.

Rumple (slightly behind the times) Foreskin
