The Supreme Court was founded on the principle of precedent ("stare decisis"...which roughly translates "that which has been decided").
The Supreme Court seldom discards precedent, with the exception of grievous miscarriages of Justice (think: Dred Scott)
"Justice" Brett Kavanaugh "went there" today, throwing out established Supreme Court precedent and legislating from the bench that (presumbably black) teenagers could (and probably should) be subjected to life sentences without parole.
The irony is not lost on me, "white privilege" got him out of a little teenage rapey problem, but he wants those without such privilege to suffer the full brunt of the law for mistakes made as a teenager.
