Achieving goals and being humbled

I set a few goals when I began seriously writing for Literotica again. Most of them had been met and/or exceeded, but the one that remained so elusive however, was being able to break into the 'Hall of Fame' listings. I even made a comment in a Facebook conversation with robcub32, who owns a chunk of the top ten of that ranking in GM, that I would be thrilled to just show up at the OTHER end of the list in position #249.

A few minutes ago, I discovered that goal had finally been achieved...and in a way that I never could have imagined. Chapter nine of my current series 'Pizza Boy at the Door' not only made the list, but entered it as the #1 rated story of all time for the category.

I certainly have no misconceptions that it will remain there for any length of time, but I am going to enjoy seeing it there for however long it stays. More importantly, I am going to take it in the manner I think it should be: Something to be proud of, but also humbling that the readers have supported it so well. And of course also, the challenge to 'do it again' that comes with the honor.

I should be working on completing chapter twenty-one of that series, but right now the brain is off in la~la land pretending the coffee I am guzzling is really champagne. :D

Congrats! Enjoy it before the snipers get it in their sites.

There is no pay here so its fun to get rewarded by the readers in some way and the top lists are pretty much that reward along with scores.

But you're right, get working on what's next because lit is also what have you done for me lately:D

I've had several of mine in the Sci-Fi category yo-yo up and down in the rankings. A couple of them were monthly winners (which I found out by accident), and very soon thereafter got bombed off the first page. That was to be expected, I'm sure.

Enjoy the glory while it lasts. And try not to check the listing too often. ;)

Congrats! Take a "picture" of it and keep it in a folder on your desktop along with the best comments to use as encouragement when you get discouraged. I hope it happens again for you!

Congrats. I have one there too, so I know how it feels.

Serious congratulations JKendallDane.

I haven't quite gone post-goals yet. However, I haven't placed mine quite so high.

I think it's pretty damn cool that you did and achieved it.

"Now, get out there and do it again." as coach used to say. :D

Kudos. That's a pretty impressive achievement considering the massive number of competitors on Lit :)

Thanks everyone. This is probably the best buzz I've had since I retired the bong two years ago. :D

Yeah, the paychecks here do tend to be on the slim side, but to tell you the truth...I would rather have the readers paying me as they have been, than trading it for the piddlng royalities on a few hundred ebook sales.

Money isn't everything and I look at writing for Lit as better therapy and much cheaper than paying a shrink. ;)
