Hi, I would also like to delete my account please and thank you

From the FAQ:

How do I close my Literotica account?

You have every right to remove yourself from the site at any time for any reason. If you feel comfortable doing so, we'd appreciate knowing the reason(s) for your decision. We strive to improve Literotica ever day, and your comments can help us mend things that might need mending.

As a security measure and to make sure that the you are the one closing the account, to remove your account you must log in to your profile.

Click "New Story" in the top header menu.

Choose "New Story".

Make the title "REMOVE MEMBERSHIP".

Choose any category (it doesn't matter - this will not be posted publicly).

In the "Story Text" field, request that your membership be terminated.

Then hit SUBMIT at the bottom of the forum.

All story, poem, and illustration submissions you have made to the site will be removed with your account. Be aware that we do not store site submission data - including votes, comments, and the text itself. Once it is deleted from our servers, we cannot restore it.

Note - this does not remove posts you make to Forums. If you want that content deleted you have to do that yourself before you close your account.

Unclear ~ please help those who need to delete an acct completely

In a process of reorganizing and wanted to delete an inactive user account. I see others ask the same question. I can imagine it's a bit annoying to moderators (or whoever can authorize this) since it's not really essential to "delete" or "close an account". I understand totally that people can just choose to abandon it. Still, it seems reasonable, as it is in many online venues, to cancel an acct and remove the listed user name. There can be MANY personal reasons someone may prefer to that and be assured it's closed.

That's why I read carefully your instructions as I've quoted here. I searched through every conceivable corner of Lit and clicked ever category and sub-category on the Headers, User CP and other toolbars or navigational option. For whatever reason (very puzzling) I cannot find the option you say here is in the "Header" to choose "New Story".

Maybe if I were one of the writers I would have used that function and could find it. However, it seems to me that ought to be a very obvious, easy-to-located option for all users. It's not. I've looked everywhere.

Could you please reply with a clear explanation of how to delete a user account completely in such a way that the user gets some verification that his or her account has been closed and their username deleted? I would greatly appreciate a reply to this ~ not a repeat of instructions that are (apparently) INCORRECT

Pretty please

clarification needed ~ F.A.Q. answer is inadequate

Hi Electric Blue (and to whom it may concern ~ moderators or problem solvers in this wonderful community):

I'm in a process of reorganizing and wanted to delete an inactive user account (this one) because it was a Literotica name I started and later decided on a different profile name. I would really like to remove this username now from the system.

I see others ask the same question - i.e. how to delete an account (totally).

Now I can imagine it's a bit annoying to moderators (or whoever can authorize this) since it's not really essential to "delete" or "close an account". I fully realize that people can just choose to abandon it.

Still, it seems reasonable, as it is in many online venues, to cancel an acct and remove the listed user name. There can be varied personal reasons someone may prefer to that and be assured it's closed.

That's why I read carefully the instructions you imported from the F.A.Q.'s. I was glad to see that and thought, super, this should be quick and easy. It's not. I literally cannot find what is referenced here as a "New Story" option in the "Main Header" (What's the "main header" if not the tabs labeled "User CP, FAQ, Calendar, New Posts, Search, Quick Links and Log Out"?

This seems unnecessarily opaque. And I've been a Lit user for a long time. Never needed to look for this and can't understand why such an option as how to cancel an account are so hidden. As a comparison, I started a user account at a very similar web community and decided within less than 15 minutes that the features of the site were not conducive to my interest, so followed the simple instructions on how to cancel my account. I immediately received an email confirming the account had been closed. That's the way Lit ought to be. Seriously.

(A digression here - but it's relevant. Facebook is almost as bad. The steps it takes to completely get out of the overly "sticky" navigational features of Facebook are designed to keep people locked in. Not good) Literotica is such a vast and diverse community with so many wonderful features. The "delete account" feature should be just as clear, transparent and accessible as the tab that quickly became my favorite here "New Posts"!:D

However, here's my problem. I searched through every conceivable corner of Lit and clicked ever category and sub-category on the Headers, User CP and other toolbars or navigational option. For whatever reason (very puzzling) I cannot find the option you say here is in the "Main Header" to choose "New Story".

The F.A.Q. paragraph must be referring to another "main header" or the "new story" option is hidden in some way that is not clear to me. Under another user name I've been around here as a reader for a long time. I am perplexed by this.

It just seems unnecessarily opaque. I can't understand why such an option as how to cancel an account is so hidden. Many thanks.

my posting errors

Well good grief. I was trying to edit and submit my request for a clarification about the F.A.Q. on account deletion. I did not realize there is no way to edit or delete a post. So now I'm stuck with the above redundancies (including some grammatical errors in the first couple of drafts)

Still puzzled. Why can't a user edit or delete their own post?

Kind of weird to me.

Sorry for the cluttered posts, though. It was unintentional. I think while typing and usually use Microsoft Word so I should have done it that way and then cut and paste into these dialog boxes.

My mistake.

If you click on this link

https://www.literotica.com/my/#/activity/all

it should take you to your "Home Page".

"New Story" is top centre (in Beta, which is the only view I use). Click there, and follow the FAQ instructions and you should be able to delete your account.

Lit started up twenty years ago, and is encumbered by ancient, clunky code, which is why it's not easy to navigate like later generation sites.

Please delete membership of Literotica.

Please delete membership of Literotica. Very interesting stories but am moving on.

Thank you CodsallWolf

Follow the instructions in Post #3 above. You have to submit a "story" to get the request In front of the Site Administrator, nobody will action from this thread.

FWIW, probably the easiest solution is just to stop coming to Lit. Seriously.

Remove member ship

Sorry about the other post I hadn't realized I messed up doing the account deletion with the header. But nevertheless I would like to delete my membership/account please

Do people read threads?
