I accidentally clicked the "1 star" button on my own story. It won't let me reverse it or undo. Is there any way to undo my vote? Thanks

there's no way for you to undo it but when the next sweep is done it will probably disappear, i think.

I'm super new to posting, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but how frequently do sweeps happen? I know the rating isn't a big deal, I was just so excited to get that "H" next to my story and then I killed it lol!

Maybe four to six times during a contest (sometimes more) coz it's the contest stories that attract the most troll voting. Every other story on the site benefits from sweeps, as they send the sweep bot through the whole story file. I've seen sweeps between contests too, maybe monthly. Over time, the junk gets taken out of your story file (unless you get more junk votes, which will usually go next contest). Note that it's not only one- bombs get stripped, but also "helpful fives" added by folk who think they're compensating for the trolls, but they're not reading the stories either. The algorithm picks this kind of thing up, which suggests one of the parameters is human read times between viewing page one and voting.

1 star votes do not get removed on account of being one star votes.
One-bombs usually get stripped out during contest sweeps, from what I seen, so even if the story isn't a contest entry, it's likely the one-star will get purged.

The trend in contests the last year or two is that apparently no one bomb is legit. Years past 4.84 would get you in the top three, sometimes a win. Now the winners are in the 4.9's as the sweeps remove 95% of anything not a five. Especially helpful to people with very low vote totals.

As for non contest stories a sweep would still remove the one in question(I would think) because if he just went to the last page and clicked the one then its obvious the story was not read.
