What are these, darlin?

How about
MYOB, IMO/IMHO, and BTW?

As been discussed a number of times before on this board, we're all perfectly capable of writing the words "are" and "you" and "to/too". They're short little words, friendly words, really, and to refashion them into online chat shortspeak is bad enough but to then drag those patheticlly dwarfed words here, where one has time to consider what they say and how they say it, is (at the very least) doing a vast disservice to the English language.

IMHO.
;)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

NO l33t 5p34k d00dz (elite speak dudes, for those of us over the age of, oh say, 18!)

And yes if the words only has 3-5 letters in it, SPELL THE DMANED THING OUT!

Shit I'm old!

R

I have an objection to the use of..

"Nuff said," and "aight" for the word "alright."

But I'll breeze over these words and the like, if I enjoy what you have to say.

Have absolutely perfect grammar and you still can be an asshole I'm not interested in tracking.

Caps, though..are just ridiculous.

:p :p :p :p :p :D

I've seen weg (with evil grin) around here, and it seems accepted. I personally don't like using any abbreviations, though I do use the faces to convey the same idea as lol, etc.

Ok but call me silly................................Why would we have to check with anyone?.............

Shadowsource

I have to agree I hate them! They are not being used just online either. Kids are using them at school. I hate it when they have spent a lot of time doing an assignment and I get an b/c or R U. What are they thinking?

Point to Mischka! BTW, you DO have a sexy name, but the new AV is great.

Ain't botherin' me none

The abbreviations don't bother me a whole lot. Just look at it as another regional dialect, which I'm sure many of you speak in your home towns.

Aight y'all?

LOL, but for the record, there's not too many I use myself -- I just find them extremely interesting. :D

Ouch

Got me right in the heart!

Have you ever sat at the computer for an hour trying to find a handle that hasn't been taken...

I really guess I will have to fix that, and start over.

Damn.

i suppose i agree with this, but personally i only use the laughing ones (lol, etc.) because i prefer using whole words

typing out "laughing out loud" looks stupid, though, so lol is actually better than the words
