The Affordable Care Act is significantly more popular than the House GOP plan to repeal and replace the law, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. The survey, released Thursday as Senate Republicans unveiled a draft of their own healthcare reform legislation, found that 41 percent of Americans say ObamaCare is a good idea while 38 percent say it is a bad idea.

By comparison, just 16 percent said they see the House GOP plan as a good idea — a 7-point drop from the 23 percent approval it had shortly after it was passed in April. About 48 percent of respondents said that the House healthcare overhaul was a bad idea, according to the poll.

Fifty-five percent of Americans now support the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a major turnaround from five months ago when 42% approved and 53% disapproved. This is the first time a majority of Americans have approved of the healthcare law, also known as Obamacare, since Gallup first asked about it in this format in November 2012.

- 55% approve, up from 42% right after 2016 election
- 40% want to keep law but make significant changes
- 30% want to repeal; 26% want to keep law as it is

Yes. The republicans want to dismantle the "deeply unpopular Obamacare" - even though it is at its highest approval and popularity rating. And even though its repeal would send chaos through the market, exponentially increase the number of insured and most likely cause rates to increase.

I suspect the approval rating for the ACA would skyrocket if only there was some mechanism to prohibit #ThosePeople (non-white, non-English speaking, non-Christian, etc) from obtaining health care. As Ishmael is fond of telling us, healthcare isn't a right, you know.

You spend too much time fixating on polls.

Most of these are no better than push-polls designed to create a story narrative as they did during the last election. All you do is rush in here with every poll that seemingly confirms your bias while ignoring polls that don't. It also puts you in the comfortable position of not having to think out topics and having a conversation about them, but sweetie, a poll is not a fact.

That's right AJ, attempt to conflate a simple Kaiser poll question "Do you approve of the ACA?" with political push-polls.

Why?

Because you don't like the results.

SAD.

I'll bet you think that you're a lot more loved and appreciated than the results would indicate...

And right on cue, here comes Throb's alt army...

The army that tried to "fix" the HOF voting. *chuckle*

A recent statistical study shows beyond doubt that pickles are deadly. According to the study, every single person who ate the gerkin in the year 1836 has DIED! That's a 100% mortality rate! NOBODY LIVED! And there are NO provisions in either Obamacare nor in the latest GOP health care plan to address this!

But I'm just betting there's a case study to show that Single Payer would NEVER have had such results... go figure!

the sad thing is it's actually shit, but it's not like any o those assholes are going to come up with anything better so we pretty much have to just pretend it's awesome because that's just how shitty this country is.

And it is far and away better than it was before the ACA. Which really doesn't say much, but considering our entire healthcare system is built around profiteering... Well, here we are.

In what way?

The slightly expanded coverage or the astro-fuckin-nomical prices we are paying for it?

Why should they? You and the other partisan (D)'s will pretend whatever turd (D) generates is awesome!!!

so we pretty much have to just pretend it's awesome because that's just how shitty this country is.

Yet another statistic, derived from the deep underground bunkers from which all statistical studies of worth are developed, is the simple fact that nearly everyone (now THAT's a well know statistical measure), wants (nee, believes it to be a RIGHT)an absolute guarantee of perfect health and total social safety, they want it now, and they want it for free. and YOU (meaning everyone else) are RESPONSIBLE for ensuring it happens.

ah, i can see why you pretend to hate political discussions now: you're a fucking idiot. good to know.

this is the general board, dude. it's where you can talk about anything. you don't like it you can fuck off back to the playground and post odd numbers and flirt with sockpuppets until your brain turns to mush.

shut the fuck up, moccasin muncher.

My prediction all along was that once Obama wasn't personally around anymore, people would start looking at the ACA as just another government program and defending it (or not) on the merits, rather than seeing it as a personal insult to their sense of self-worth as a white conservative.

But what about all the asian, latino and black conservatives?

Or are you of the belief that only white males are conservative?

Sure seems to be much ado about nothing for my simple statements concerning a pickle statistic!

Those most hurt by repeal would be those who voted Tromp. Do they deserve it?
