Abs in 80 days?

Actually, genetics do play a role in one's body's size and more importantly, body shape (articles here and here - my browser would not let me link the actual journals). Not everyone can have washboard abs or a body like X celebrity. While yes, we should never blame genetics for our lifestyle, what is healthy and fit for one individual may not be healthy and fit for another.

Looks like someone found an article to justify their poor eating habits. Keep making excuses for yourself. I'm not buying it.

That's a little harsh

It can take a frustratingly long time to drop enough body fat and then bulk and cut and repeat until you get desired musculature, particularly if you are goal oriented and have a fixed idea in mind. And then for both sexes there's the fine line of how defined you want to be.

It is harder for some people too...though I will agree you have to be fairly unusual for the basic rules of physics not to apply

Fat people make excuses. It takes hard work and dedication, but anyone can get into good shape. I believe that the way your body fat is distributed is determined by genetics, but whether you are fat or not has nothing to do with genetics.

It's not that fatties/drinkers/smokers/abusers make excuses to themselves or others. No, we have conceptual switches inside our heads. Set one way, it's okay to be fat/addicted/wretched. We need to flip the switches so such is NOT okay. I've been there with tobacco and overeating. I still haven't flipped the booze switch. I'm not sure how to go there -- 12-step bullshit absolutely does NOT work.

But the main lie/excuse I told myself was that I was okay with being wretched. I had to consciously decide otherwise. And that took work.

I must disagree with your take on genetics. Some populations DO tend toward more adipose tissues (fat layers). That's not an excuse, just a reality of human diversity.

Still, physics rules. The reliable Physics Diet is very simple: Consume more calories than you expend and you will gain weght. Expend more calories than you consume and you will drop weight. It's not rocket science.
