Another attempt to talk about writing and story telling.

I'm always working on one idea or another, and I approach them differently based on the story itself. My current idea I am working on as a novel...well, novella will most likely if into several Lit category, so it comes down to what the particular chapter is most about instead of the story as a whole. Otherwise, a loving wives story could end up under incest.

Not looking for advice, just want to talk about working.

I've generally got a category in mind when I start a story and wherever it meanders to along the way it usually stays where I began.

The way I approach a story seems to be: whatever happens, happens. I'm one of those writers that is constantly surprised by what's coming out of my fingers.

I'm pretty much with the Gauche approach - real difficulty comes when I 'plan' to write a story for Lit, like a 'chain story' where you have to fit within an overall pattern. Don't have any problem with planning longer works, they plan themselves.

EDIT: Still owe you a PM Gauche - the story I'm currently writing may illuminate my own perception.
