I have a story I've written and would like to submit it. However, it is written in third person. Is this accepted here or do I have to write in the second person voice? Thanks for the answers.

Second person is a difficult one to get right. It can be done, but unless the reader accepts the concept of second person, it won't work.

First person or third person are easier to write, and to read.

Why would the site require you to write in one voice over another? Are there sites that do that? Why woudl they rewuire second person like that? Where are these dsites so I can avoid them?

Hi, Jenna, and welcome to Literotica and the Author's Hangout. :) Either third person or first person is fine. They are both preferred over second person by most of us, unless you are writing a How-to essay or something like that. :rose::rose:

Bead a bunch of stories at random from the site, and you'll see that there's plenty of exemples of all POV's. So worry not about that.

Why can't I just like things? LIKE!

Please don't tell me there is a site where 2nd person voice is required.

I'm wondering if Jenna knows what first, second and third person voices are.

Do you, hon?

That's kind of what I'm wondering. I think she might mean second person but not know the difference between POVs.

I haven't found much of anyone here who knows what second person voice is. ;)

You say that with conviction.

Being a professional, trained, degreed book editor, I think I can do so. Besides, we recently had a thread on this, where bunches and bunches of folks had it all messed up.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I have always thought First Person meant the narrator described events that happened to himself or herself. There would usually be other persons involved, and they would be referred to in the third person, but there was no second person in the story. The POV was usually that of the narrator, although there could be exceptions to this rule. Second person would not be used, except like: "You would have thought that..." in which "You" is actually "One."

Second person, which I have never used and don't like to read, always seems rather accusatory to me: You did this and you said that, etc. The narrator seems to be some kind of Cosmic Observor but is not usually part of the story. The POV would usually be that of the second person, which always seemed awkward to me. In third person, the POV is the protag. although it sometimes alternates among the characters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I have always thought.

Every story submitted to this site HAS to be written in second person. Read your Author's Contract.

He's right. Besides that, when you post queries such as yours, you are required to include nude photos of yourself. ;)
