about the publish/pending option

I recently sent in a story and it's listed as pending.

The strange thing is that it's racking up views even though it's not available to the public.

What's going on.

Roman, I'm not following your instruction, not out of any wiseguy attitude, but because the answer needs to be posted to a wider audience. Your question has been asked many times, and should have a FAQ, but doesn't.

Briefly, during the interval between submission and posting, some software gremlin generates "views" that aren't--either the editors or the story bots push the button, so you get the "ghost views". Nothing to get alarmed about.

Thank you for the info. I posted my second story to this site about 24 hours ago and was wondering how it had 24 views while "pending".

General rule is three to five, with exceptions. Longer if you submit via an attached .com or .rtf file, appropriately-noted contest stories sometimes sooner.
