So after a year of psyching myself up, I finally hit publish. I have quite a few stories I intend to post now that I've started. They're very lightly interconnected, not like a series, but "Veronica was interesting, I want to know more about her." So Veronica's story would be stand-alone, but connected. (There is no Veronica, FWIW.)

Anyway... several of the stories are series, but one is more a collection of series. Each section is 1-4 chapters, generally short, and comes to a conclusion. My question is: should I publish it as one huge series, or as the more natural "series 1", "series 2"? It would make more sense chronologically to break it up, I think, but I don't know if that's abusing the series mechanism, where each section would be marked "complete," but the overall story will probably never be finished.

So, one series or (currently) 7?

It sounds like you've got or you're planning a bunch of interconnected stories, each in itself, complete. On that basis, I'd suggest separate series, but each with Veronica in the title. Readers are clever, they'll figure it out.

Yeah, they'd definitely all have the same title. (Plus a section #)

Just keep in mind with a series you will have a drop off in readers from part 1 to part 2 and so forth.

Lots of people do this (myself included): Limentina, CareyThomas, BrokenSpokes, etc. We have distinct series, nestled within a larger, over-arching "world".

Most will put a "suggested reading order" on their author bio.

Or you could do what @Candy_Kane54 did and published a whole "How to" about how to read your stories.

Good luck!

That is probably overkill, since the connections are very light. I'd written the first three stories / series before I had a clue they might be connected...
