I think I'd like to respond to the recent happenings in this forum. It seems as though a few things are unclear to everyone. If you are, then I must apologize, it's my fault.
I don't blame anyone else, nor do I care to point fingers at people. I know it's my fault. There were a lot of new people coming on, and I should have made a few things clear.
First off, if you want to see the rules, perhaps some guidlines for Role Playing, look at the first page of the Newbies/hackers sticky at the top. It should have a list of rules for everyone to follow.
This is just a forum. The bulletin board is an entire list of hundreds of places to go to, to talk about anything and everything that one might possible want to know, not just about sex, but many other things as well.
The ORP forum is just a part of this site, and so not everything can be crammed in here. I love the fact that many people are coming in here and reading and posting, but I don't want to see this all cluttered with things that aren't necessarily useful.
Let me give you an example, did anyone leaf through the personals a couple months ago? I went in there from time to time, until it changed. You see, half of the things being discussed in there weren't personals, they were just offbeat things.
The forum was designed for people to connect, either on the web, or in real life, with others who share similiar interests. Soon, it just turned into a second General Forum. You would have to search through dozens of different off-topic threads before you even came to 1 legitimate personal ad.
The moderators have said that they were going to fix it, I'm still not sure if much has been done or not.
I just don't want to see this forum end up the same way; become a bunch of threads talking about offhand, out of the way topics. This is a role playing forum, just like the SRP is a sexual role playing forum, and the general board is a general forum, and the How To board is a question/answer/advice forum. Everyone has their place, and that's how it was designed.
Of course, now you think I'm just going off and becoming a real hardass. Well, perhaps I am a little, but even hardasses aren't without a heart.
Do you people really want a thread designed specifically so you can talk about anything... and I mean anything?
There is a couple of threads that already here that deal around those lines similiarly, but I'm wondering if the need to talk with just other Role players is so high that brought this about?
If it is, then please tell me. Send me a Pm, and tell me what you'd like to see, or maybe not see about this forum. I'm not set in stone with anything, rules were meant to create order, but the number one rule is to have fun, and if something is prohibiting that, then maybe it does need to be changed.
I'm not inclined to have one (1) thread that's designed for b.s. talking, and blatant self promoting and the like. I'll even sticky it, if you want, so it'll be right at the top.
I hope this answers any questions, and lets people feel that I didn't horribly cheat them of having a good time in here.
Now, get back to role playing, I mean it!
