Tooth ache and my dentist is out of town.........and no painkillers to be had......aaaaaaaahhgggg!

An old Southern remedy.......

J.R., I don't know how good this is for actually stopping the tooth from hurting, but people I know swear by it in times of need as you find yourself in. The remedy is to hold a shot of good sour mash in your mouth until either the pain subsides, or you have to swallow. This done every 1/2 hour should deaden any pain you may feel. Can't say how you'll feel in the morning, but it should stop the any discomfort tonight. :D

Hope you feel better soon dear.

-kym- Love those old Southern remedies :D

Thank you -kym- and Eatm69,
I will have to try those solutions....:( ouch!

Whoops! I double posted.......

Does your double posting mean you're going to try a double shot of sour mash???
Brave man or one who is in serious pain

Feel better my friend. :rose:

-kym- shuddering at the thought of a mouthful of sour mash :p

You know I do not believe I have ever had Sour mash,
If I could afford it I would keep some Makers Mark around though, a taste that I picked up in Palm Beach County, I used to live in the El Cid area, I used to drink in the local bar(thats right the bars name was the El Cid) there right across from the newspaper......hard core drinkers there, I had a man topple backwards off of the bar stool next to me.....He was out cold and the patrons did not bat an eye, just stepped over him....the bartender did not notice......I gestured behind me when he fetched my drink..."Ya got one down over there." The man was okay....took a taxi.

My drink was Wild Turkey chased with beer.....I could walk home....er....stagger home from there.

Ya know we do not have any booze in the house... Oh well the Ibuprofen seems to be holding it a bay for a while....:)

J.R., I remember El Cid well, although... I don't know if its still open. Never was in the place, but knew that it was a "serious" drinking establishment and novices were viewed with distaste. ~~laughing~~ OK, so that might be a stretch of my imagination, but I remember some real imbibers who used to drink there. Me, I stuck with the neighbourhood type of places where everyone went.

J.R., I'm happy to hear that you've found some relief, and feel for you having to eat soup the rest of the weekend. Sure hope you can get to the dentist early on Monday.
Be well my dear and I hope that you and your son are able to enjoy the weekend in spite of your sore mouth. :rose:

-kym- El Cid..... gawd..... That dredges up memories :p

One thing El Cid did have was a great hamburger. I quickly found that everyone who went there was there to drink, the socializing did not work too well I guess ....not suprising.......alcohol does not lead to a healthy coexistence for people even if one is a happy drunk......
I am not a teetoler by any means.....I just got bored with drinking
and the quality of the people that I met in such places......usually the walking wounded like myself. I like dynamic people who are at least trying to improve on themselves and a bar is not where one finds such people. :)

Boy is that ever the truth J.R. I've been there and done that along with you. Now I like to stop by one of two pubs, and have a couple of pints, but that's it. And that's not on a regular basis.
When I was younger I tried all of the bars, and over time found the same things as you. Its not a place that allows for one to grow intellectually, spiritually,or socially for that matter. Bars tend to be places where there seems to be lots of folks gossiping about others and all too often harbor a lot of petty jealousies. Thanks but no thanks. :(
Like yourself, I am drawn to people who are fun to be around and have a zest about them. Hmm, perhaps that's why I like Lit so much, it attracts many who are on the same level as myself. :)
J.R.; I hope your tooth is feeling better today and you enjoy this day in paradise! :kiis:

-kym- Beachtime!
