Anyone seen the trailers for appalling shite of a film based on the idea of Jane Austen. I would say 'life,' but having seen the trailer I find the thought that the writers and directors did any actual research into Austen's life in order to produce this festering turd of a film utterly laughable.
<fumes>
It's bad enough they fuck around with her books.

That's why they always wait for a person to die before making a movie of their life. If they're dead they can't bitch about the "artistic licence" they take.

Somewhere, deep inside I am seething at the unconscionable liberties these blackguards have taken with the life story of the incomparable Ms Austen.

On the other hand, I just saw the trailer for it and my first reaction was "Ooh! Look at the pretty pretty costumes! Ooh! Anne Hathaway! Pretty!"

I'm a baaad englishwoman, i know jack of Jane Austen, but damn regardless of her 'Land of Bush' heritage, she's HOT!!!! :D

*runs away before Verm whacks me*

I heard about this and groaned, mostly over Hathaway in the lead. She is *not* an inspiring actress, in fact I find her one of the most vapid females I've ever seen or heard. The film's based on one of those speculative, possible events in Austen's life, an unlikely affair in her youth. The youth will be portrayed by James McAvoy, an actor I like (so far); other notable British actors are in the cast, but I honestly can't see watching this flimsy fillum with such a miscast lead.

So, you actually expect Hollywood to he honest making a historical film? :rolleyes:

No. I expect them to leave well alone and stick to what they know - shitty action blockbusters with aged has-beens like Tom Cruise and Sylcester Stalone.

And FFG - you're off my christmas card list.
