Dr Grant Harrison had sold his business, MedPark Technologies, for 1 billion US dollars a few years ago, and now saw patients in a small clinic on the edge of a small town in Northern California, just to keep himself busy. His investments guaranteed his wealth for the rest of his life, and he spent on his community, so he was well known and beloved to the residents of the Town of Fiora. He enjoyed his clinic, as it ran at an easy-going pace, and because finances weren't really a concern, he could take his time with his patients. Everyone knew that they would end up waiting a little longer in the waiting room to see him, but that the wait was well worth it. When their time came, they'd get his full attention for as long as they and he felt they needed it.

To top it off Grant was a handsome man. In his early 40's with mostly black, short, hair, he stood at 5'10" and carried an athletic build. With his khaki pants, blue button down shirt and tie, and stethoscope around his neck, he looked like a well-to-do scholar and gentleman.

But Grant had a secret.

_+_+_+_+_

"Ok Mrs MacKenzie, we can finally take you off that last blood pressure medicine," he said warmly to the elderly lady - his second to last patient for the day. "Your diet has brought it down nicely, you made it!"

"Oh wonderful! Thank you Dr Harrison!" Mrs MacKenzie said jubilantly as she gave Grant a hug.

"Call me Grant. Please. I'm like your son. And I didn't do any thing, you did all the hard work. It was your goal, and you accomplished it. I just watched you do it."

Mrs MacKenzie and Grant finished their pleasantries as she left, and Grant eyed one last patient, a young lady, sitting in his waiting room. He almost did a double-take due to what he thought was an attractive young woman, but of course stopped himself. He got back to his office and finished his charting on Mrs MacKenzie and then texted Susie, his secretary, to let the last patient in to his office.

Debbie Visits The Doctor

Debbie had just moved to the Town of Fiora in Northern California. It was a big change from her life in New York City where she was born and raised and lived for 32 years. She now did freelance work from home and there was no longer a need to live in a big city anymore. She always wanted to live in a small town and on the west coast where the weather is better, so she made the decision while she still could. After all, she could live anywhere since she was single, no house and no kids.

Debbie is an independent strong minded woman who has lived mostly by herself since college. She is secure and confident and sees herself as having her act together. She takes care of herself and likes feeling healthy so she eats right and works out at the gym often. At 5'5" and 130 lb weight Debbie always feels she needs to lose a few pounds, but everyone tells her she doesn't. With her long curly brown hair, brown eyes and 36D's she does get some attention from men, but she doesn't feel she is ready for any long term relationship at this point and really doesn't want to even date just yet. Her goal now is to build her freelance business.

She always rented apartments but this time she decided to rent a small house near the lake. It's only a small kitchen, living area, bedroom and spare room she is making into an office. And one bathroom. It all being more than enough for her.

Wearing her older jeans, a yellow tank top and sneakers she sorts through all the boxes, which is a major chore. As she was unpacking she thought why does she have so many clothes and now realizes she needed more closet space. While unpacking and filling the last bedroom drawer to the maximum, she presses down her clothes with her left hand and forces the drawer shut with her right hand. She jams her left pinkie finger in the drawer and yells out, "Oh fuck my finger, shit. How stupid was that?"

Her pinkie begins throbbing as she grips it and feeling lost as to what to do. She figures she will wait a few minutes and see if the pain lessens. However her pinkie begins to turn a shade of bluish/purple and she knows she better have a doctor at least look at it. She remembers that while passing through town there was a small doctors office and figures it's worth a shot to see if they can have a look at her finger.

As Debbie pulls into the small parking lot of the doctors office, she sees the sign on the door, "Dr Grant Harrison" and heads in. She explains what happened to the lady at the desk and then sits down holding her finger. While sitting down she studies her pinkie and knows that she is gonna lose a nail, but she hopes it's just a bruise. She is confident she is doing the right thing by having a doctor check it out.

An elderly lady leaves the office and Debbie and her exchange smiles. Then she sees a doctor behind the counter and waits to be called. Looking at him speaking to the lady at the desk he seems pleasant and he isn't bad looking at all. Debbie looks forward to going in and then going home to finish her unpacking.
