Hey, I’ve been gone for almost a year… took a break. Wasn’t intentional at the time. I think I pressured myself too much to achieve with writing, instead of enjoying? I know others don’t know anything about that…

I wanted to ask, has anything changed in a year since last December? Any new rules or features I should be aware of? I feel like I have been in a writing coma.

Anyways, hoping to motivate myself to dust off a bunch of first drafts I have been sitting on. I will say it was encouraging to see all the comments on my works in the past year. Tho a few readers seemed bummed I was not going to continue some of my stories!

Welcome back. 😀

Still pretty much the same old cast of the usual folks here, with a scattering of new faces.

In other words, the usual.

Welcome back. The biggest new feature seems to be that some small percentage of stories just... vanish somewhere into the CMS and getting them published turns into a multi-week or multi-month struggle. Otherwise, nope!

Welcome back!

You may have noticed your avatar is a victim of the Great Database Whitening of 2025. There's been some glitches...

"My story has been rejected for suspected use of AI" and "Why is my story taking so long to post?" have taken over from the previous underage and non-con repeata-threads.

I suspect the two are connected. Tip: if you used to use Grammarly, don't.

Welcome back, and I hope the break worked!

Theres been some category changes.
-One category was split in two, someone will remind which. Cross-dressing and transgender I think?
-Erotic art was removed completely
-I/T and NC/R were renamed T/I and R/NC

Major rule change was illustrations showing nudity and sexual acts were banned, which is why the erotic art section was deleted. Also, illustrated stories have had their erotic art stripped, leaving the story and acceptable illustrations only.

The wording on AI use in the rules has changed a few times over the last year or two, mainly in respect to images.

Will you be picking any of them back up, or starting completely fresh?

Yep, correct.

Oh no! I have been bleached :p Thanks for pointing that out I would have gone forever not noticing tbh.

I feel like even last year those two quesitons were dominating. Tho Grammarly is a new one, I have always used it (I need a LOT of help proof reading LOL). I guess I dont always go with its suggestions so maybe Ill have ok luck...

Interesting... Ill have to look at what the reasoning with that i for the I/T and NC/R name changes? I assume so that the latter would not be second-rated by the former?

I plan to pick back up with most of my series, albeit maybe slow (I find the pressure to release fast may be my undoing). But as always there are also freash ideas rolling around up here :p

Looks like she may have been scared off again?🤔

Lol no just taking it in stride!!!!

And for all others I didn't quote, thanks for the warm welcome back :)

No reason was given (that I've seen), however I could have some guesses.
It could be that they're simply trying to draw attention away from the non-con/incest categories, or it could be a move ahead of getting rid of Incest and NC. There's a lot of things happening in the world of laws and pressure by credit card companies which could cause either to be likely. Or, maybe I'm completly off base.

The reason given for removing erotic art was that readers prefer a text based site, and worry that if they read a story in public the "shoulder surfers" might see an erotic image and know they're looking at sexy stuff. Which doesn't make sense considering a number of factors. Of course, shortly after new laws in the US came in requiring age verification for porn, Lit was able to say they don't require age verification because they don't have sexy images here. Coincidence?

No, I think that's a fair assumption. Laurel always seems to have one eye on the legal aspects (hence the hard no to anything remotely under 18 that's been here for ages) that may impact her site.

Anyway PJ, have fun catching up on the news.

No coincidence. Behind the scenes, an email was sent out to accounts with illustrations (like mine) saying that's exactly the reason nude illustrated content was archived - to protect against such legislation around the world.

The first reason given was ham-fisted, and clouded the (legitimate) real reason.

Yeah, I know it's not a coincidence. I was more trying to point out that while we never got a reason for the category title changes, just because the site gives a reason, doesn't mean it's the reason. If Incest and NC go, I'd expect the site to come out with a "these things are bad in the real world..." type explanation, not a "we would love to support you, but the risk of hosting this content is too great..." type explanation.

As someone who was eight months or so into creating an illustrated story when the rules changed, I would have really appreciated if they'd been a little more honest in the official announcement. I think there'd have been far less outrage and upset, I for one would have been much more understanding because given that knowledge, it was the right move. It's interesting they contacted creators though, I wonder why they felt they could state the truth privately and not publicly?

That perplexed me too. I suggested they used what they sent me as a policy update announcement, but for whatever reason, the site chose not to. I suspect that approach was based on legal advice, not to - to show that they took targeted action, not general maybe? - I don't know.

Well there has never really been allowed true NC anyways on lit? It's always been really in a sense reluctance.

I guess that does worry me since I do dabble in those categories to an extent. :/

I don't quite know what you mean by "true" NC, but to clarify, the NC rules on Lit haven't changed. I'm just speculating they might. I've seen other places that previously allowed it pull it, and they've pulled everything, including CNC (consensual non-consent), but other than that it's a completely unfounded guess.
