Caught this one on my Twitter list of people I follow. They send me everything they send out so I can read it. I haven't learned how to tweet yet anyways.

One of the things I follow is the Government Accountability Office:

Entry Level Position, 5 Years of School, $50,000 a year.

Basically, if you get this job, you write research papers, very, very good research papers.

Collecting relevant information that is aligned with objectives/planning decisions and meets needs.

Conducting analyses that yield quality information aligned with needs; identifying relevant information, patterns/inconsistencies, relationships, interdependencies, and potential implication.

Preparing quality written work that meets relevant writing and evidence standards, and that is appropriately targeted to the audience and purpose.

Communicating relevant and accurate information during formal or informal presentations, meetings, or interviews.

Partnering or collaborating with others to address issues or solve problems; following up with others to ensure needs are met.

Contributing to team efforts through participation in activities/meetings, soliciting and listening to others’ opinions, and working collaboratively to accomplish team goals.

Umm, no. Basically you spend 95 percent of your time crunching numbers and creating charts. The writing part is mainly writing captions and sticking a sentence or two between charts.

I wouldn't consider that writing. Its more like a project, actual work and little creativity. It may pay well, but I would imagine it has to be tedious as all hell.

Grinding out a 50,000 word porn story feels like a job sometimes...
 
Is the salary sufficient to live on in a little comfort, wherever the job actually IS ?
