Fox O'Connell
Age: 20
Fox had been the kind of girl with a heart of gold and it was a heart that could see everything and everyone a goodness inside no matter how dark. Fox always loved the story of beauty and the beast, how such a story could happen it made her smile, wondering if one day perhaps it would happen to her, that she would have a chance to do the same kindness for someone. Funny thing how that exact thing would happen to her, in some extent. She had met a special guy named Bart Heston he had been her neighbor for many years and just started talking within that last year, he was sick and she didn't know what was going on in his life, he always seemed to hide a lot about himself, but she respected his privacy always so she never asked any questions. But lately he seemed more open, asking her more questions. Talking more about himself and it made her feel so diifferent around him. She felt free around him, so both were becoming better friends. Learning so much new things about one another. But that was about to come crashing down. One day she got a phone call she would never forget. She had missed his call, something that was rather rare, but he sounded sick and even sounded weak.
She knew something bad was going on and knowing him it was one of the things he didn't tell her. Something he was not ready to share, or didn't ever intend to ever tell her. The last six months had been wonderful but the way he would talk, it was almost like he did not have the heart to tell her. She had to play the message saying, he was ready to tell her what he never wanted to tell her. But because he had started to truly care for her, he respected her and she deserved to know. She was out of the house and across the way. Faster then she had ever ran in her life. Things were running into her head of what could be the problem. She knew he wasn't getting any younger and one day she would loose him, something she did not want to have to deal with it, but Fox wasn't stupid. Her heart was in her throat and it scared the shit out of her. Was amazing how one person, old enough to be her father or even her grandfather. But it never truly hit her till now. Everything deep down came out and she realised that she was in love with him and now her loved one was in trouble. Before she knew it she was out the door and banged at the door but he didn't answer, thankfully he gave her a spare key to his home with her.
It was very dark inside his home, he always had strong curtains that would not allow the sun to come in. She could see well enough and her eyes scanned the area, then noticed a desk, that had mail on it, she had passed this desk before and never had anything on it paper wise. She picked up a sheet and began to read it. As she did tears began to sting as it was a letter stating his cancer had stopped reacting to the chemo and he didn't have a lot of time left, all they could do was make him comfortable. She saw it came today and it took her breath away. "Oh Bart.." finally the tears fell from her eyes and onto the letter. She crumpled the paper and tossed it growling. She had a feeling this was what he needed to discuss. Though it was half the problem, she would never guess the rest. Part of her was angry at keeping this a secret for so long. But the other part was even more in love with the man. She stood up and brushed the tears away. She came to his bedroom. And before she knocked she closed her eyes and took a deep breath before finally knocking. "Bart it's Fox...." She opened up the door and saw him in bed, he didn't move, said nothing and in that moment she was scared.
It was like her best friend in the world was dead, but then she saw him move and open his eyes. "Bart..." She knelt down beside his bed and took his hand in her own his hand was so cold. She smiled at him and looked into his eyes. It was a moment she would never forget. She was just grateful for having more time with him. She leaned up into him and kissed his forehead. Before looking into the eyes she fell in love with for the year, though she would never fall out of love with him.
"I was so afraid you were dead....Bart....I..." Tears well up in her eyes looking at him tears could be seen in her eyes. "You said you needed my help...?" She said softly. "What ever is wrong I will help, but you need to be open with me..though now I know you have cancer. Why did you never tell me and what help did you need, I'd do anything and everything for you"
