A World of Gay Sex

I had a little bit of a thought experiment last night, and it got me thinking - for starters, I was thinking about how much better things would be if men took it up the ass more. Then I thought, it should just be accepted and understood that men give up their asses.

I took it to its logical conclusion and decided to shift the world in a major cultural area - the idea of it being normal, accepted and understood that, no matter how happily married a man is, he has sex with other men and it’s never even an issue. In this world, the idea of men having gay sex is interwoven into the fabric of society, and only fringe people even question it.

It’s seen as a need for men, and details are rarely if ever discussed between a man and his wife - wives just know it happens and don’t ask about it. In fact, women see it as a benefit - men are happier, and it causes them to treat their wives a lot better. Domestic violence is way down, sexual crimes are way down, and men have clearer heads and make better decisions.

(I’ve already thought about STDs - it’s set in the future and they’re all curable on the level of Quagmire in Family Guy taking NyQuil Cold, Flu and AIDS and feeling better. Also I’ve thought about sexual orientation, and there’s ample evidence that most men are at least a little bi.)

I’m not sure if I would go with my other wrinkle, but it could be fun - the other half of the story is that women hold all the important positions in society and use their men as they see fit, with the understanding that the men freely have sex with each other. It would be a fascinating episodic idea, joining a different couple and their experience with this world.

I may also confine it to one region, country or even community and write the interactions between this world and a world that does not have the same values.

That said, that sort of initiation at that age is probably fodder for a story. If I did this, it would almost be episodic and join different people at different times.

In Greek military, the phalanx formations especially, the gay sex between unit members was encouraged and expected. It was assumed to help unit cohesion, and cohesion for those units -- a multi-man extremely tight formations used in insanely bloody close combat -- was everything.

Even more so, given the cynical, but efficient battle order within the phalanx. Thing is, especially when two phalanx clash at speed in what's something resembling rugby push, but with long spears forward, the men in first three rows especially have a very high probability to die randomly, and without any contribution to the battle beyond serving as meat shields for others behind. Since their actual battle skills matter little if any, those front rows were filled with junior soldiers with little training, veterans taking the back rows so they had chance to decide the battle once it's on an advanced stage where skill and experience matter.

But to get there at all, the front rows still needed fanatical devotion to the cause, the unit and the elders behind personally. The solution to this was to make them lovers of the veterans, physically and emotionally. Survivors moved up in rank and back in rows, and took new recruits as lovers to protect them with their bodies.

I could go either way on the women being in charge part; perhaps that’s a tale for another day. But yes, the fact that no one gives it a second thought is a big part of it - it’s a world where men are free to be as promiscuous as they want, and any wife who doesn’t let her husband fuck other men is seen as a nightmare.

This has a lot of potential for all kinds of stories. I’d start it with a naive 18-year-old who ends up initiates by a group of horny men.

Men who fuck around or mentor younger men are held in high regard. Men who shirk the role are ostracised or chastised for their failure. There might even be Formal social networks designed to bring men together to facilitate fucking, like men’s clubs and fuck events aka pride marches but in this society it is the conservative guys who lead and set the pace. It might be normal for men to have their mentee with them when the meet or dine or golf. And higher up men might mentor several younger man. At a golfing day, for example, it might be normal to take a break to fuck your mentee. And nineteenth hole becomes the term for returning to the clubhouse for some more ritualised indoor fucking to relax after a day on the links. I’m in agreement - it’s a social expectation, and well over 90% of men partake. The men who don’t are usually on the fringes of society and don’t care to climb the corporate ladder or be part of the political world. And forget country clubs - no one gets into those without taking the club president’s cock.

I picture it a lot like how you describe it - when you become an adult (at 18 for site rules and because it’s basically adulthood in the US) a man is “initiated.” They spend a summer at a men’s camp, assigned to a “mentor,” a man usually between 45 and 60. The mentor and mentee share a bedroom and a bed, and it’s understood that the mentor is the top and the mentee is the bottom. From being checked in until they leave, all men at camp wear only jockstraps of a specific color; white indicates “mentor” and black “mentee.” This is code among men for top and bottom everywhere - all men wear jockstraps and are very mindful of the color.

During the last half of the summer, men from all over the area come and visit, having their way with the mentees. Can’t wait to read this. It might also be interesting if it’s all about unspoken rules, so even though it’s normal, no one really acknowledges it. It’s just how things work and the less said the better. Maybe wives get together and complain about their husbands being more interested in fucking their mentees than them, and there could be issues with young men finding the time to date women. Parents could complain that their sons don’t have as high up or attentive mentors as other boys, but to complain or draw direct attention to what’s going on is a faux pas. So there’s all this gay fucking and it’s central to societal stability, but it’s like everyone’s dirty secret. Hidden in plain sight, if you like. And all the time it’s screwing with guys heads.
