Here's to peace, in whatever quantity it's available to us.

With the death count from the tsunamis growing by tens of thousands a day, it's almost a relief to shed tears over a disaster that wasn't deliberately inflicted on one human tribe by another. The enormity of this tragedy ought to humble everyone who holds power or wishes for power. It probably won't, but it should. We're reminded that none of our plans or achievements are so significant that they can't be wiped away in a heartbeat ~ not even our dreams of peace.

Happy new year, Litsters. Stay safe. Live and love like it's the last chance you'll ever have.

There's a box of Pampers in your dressing room. Merry Christmas.

at one of the parties i went to last night, they were collecting money at the door for tsunami relief. the person hosting the party is bringing the money into work who is going to match the fund dollar for dollar and send it over.
i thought that was an awesome gesture.

great thread Sher.
happy new year.

Right on girl!

I'm not sure it's possible to live moment by moment on the edge of annihiliation, but it's a noble sentiment. here's also to denial, which makes the continuance of life and its plans possible.

Denial is definitely as essential as bread. Fortunately, there's no shortage of denial outside the actual death zone.

An observation:

~ If Tom Brokaw were still anchoring NBC News, the death toll would never have been allowed to exceed five figures. Brokaw had a calming effect, even on nature. I don't blame Brian Williams, exactly, but I do lack confidence in his ability to keep the news bearable.

I can drink to that. Happy New Year, guys.

And here's one to second chances and starting over. Old and repeated too often, but appropriate this time of year.
