I found this letter while Buzz-flashing, that is checkin' upon the Loony Left.
It is very seldom we see a letter so well written, particularly considering the purpose of the letter.
I post it because of the craft with which it is written.
Howard Hart, former CIA station chief in Islmabad, made much the same case in a talk at UVa's Miller Center yesterday (with former secretary of state Lawrence Eagleburger at his side and agreeing with him).
In another bit of fun, the Miller Center (which I work with) just landed the official oral history project for the George W. Bush administration. This should be a load of laughs.
That is a very well-written letter indeed. And it's a letter that has been written, one way or another for hundreds of years, not to mention in the recent decade.
