I have purchased a Christmas card for my Wife, on the front is says "TO THE ONE I LOVE", inside it says "Happy Christmas and New Year". Not very original, so I need some inspiration, for a suitable verse to put inside, gentleman what do you suggest,(keep it clean please) and ladies what would you like your Christmas card to say inside? Answers please on a post card or stamped address envelope, to ERICRED50.

I wouldn't want a "verse"- poetry doesn't actually do much for me. The cards I like best are the ones where someone actually tells me what I mean to them, how I have made a difference in their life on a daily basis. I got this one yesterday from someone who works for me:
"Just in case you didn't know it, I really enjoy working for you. It may be "work" but you also help to make it fun. You're not just a great boss.... you're a great person." (And no, it isn't someone who works for me in my normal day-to-day job, she does work for me personally outside of my regular career. So there is little suck up motivation in her comments.)

Anyway, those simple comments were appreciated more than the gift that came with them. We all like to hear that we make a difference to someone else. Write something similar for your wife- tell her how much she means to you all year long and how much you love her. I can't give you the words, those have to come from your heart to mean anything to her.

I found that all those various sayings about "...I know I don't express my love all the time but now that it's Christmas..." are a bunch of hogwash. Don't write anything like that. Just reach down in your heart and write what made you fall for her in the first place and how it has grown. Tell her flat out you love her more than ever.

She doesn't want the poet laureate. If she had she would have not married you, would she?
Your wife will be pleased with your best effort, because she will know that you did it for her.
Your best will be better than somebody else's perfect.
Hang on, I can feel a Country song coming on......

I went looking for this, so I could share it with you. I think this is a great example of what the others were saying about writing from the heart and not just meaningless drivel that's expected in cards. This is my most favorite card I ever received from anyone. I'll quote it verbatim.

"Aly, sometimes I can't find the right words to tell you what you mean to me I'm just not the kind of man who does that easily. When I say "me too" what I really mean is that I love you so much it makes my chest hurt. When I say "you look fine" what I really mean is that you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen and there are no words to do you justice. When you're beside me I feel like the luckiest man in the world.

I cried happy tears for days over that card.

Thank you for your replies, I have now picked a different card, which says, what I want to say inside, but not on the outside. I hate cards that say" To THE WIFE", don't you.;)

Yeah, but it beats the pants off of "Yo, bitch" cards.
