OOC needed a counterpart, preferrably male.

It was one of those days that you should never get out of bed for. I was visiting my grandparents ranch in the mountainy area near Colorado Springs. I loved the country air and the paths that I was able to move about.

I was doing some exploring with a group at Cave in Winds near Manitu Springs when a loud boom shook the cavern. A lot of rocks fell to the floor and I managed to fall into a gaping hole when the earth jolted and split open.

Now there was tons of shit about one day the bombs and all that riggermaroll blah blah blah. I never gave it a second thought, until now.

I had my walkie talkie with me and it had excellent range despite the rock walls that surrounded me. When I woke from the fall and couldn't get loose from the tight pinch, I called out on the first frequency

"Hey.. I'm Meri .... I need help... I fell in the caverns at Cave in Winds.. over"

I listened to the squall of static before a broken reply came over the speaker. "Read.... send..... one..crew.. ver."

Thus I waited. My long brown hair was sticky from blood since I cracked my head and my eyes were glazed from the long term darkness. I had no idea where the flashlight went and my pale grey eyes had no chance of peering into the dark and see anything. I felt a burning pain in my right leg and found that I could barely move my left elbow.

"Talk about the rock and the hard place." I muttered as I waited for my help to arrive.

Little did I know was that someone else was caught in the tremor and that my wallet was found by that person. My age of 22 and pert face was visible from the picture but the other facts were torn from the rocks that tried to bury that leather.

It seemed like the whole day had passed and still no one came to my aide and that was when I started to cry.

OOC: Here I come to save the day ...

OK, so my one fatal flaw, well ... one of my flaws, is that I can't stand to see a thread that won't get started. So, here I am...

Steve weeks

Steve is tall, and he likes caving, so he hits his head a lot. He is six-foot one, 192 pounds of mostly muscle, blond hair, deep blue eyes and walks with a bit of a limp from a caving accident two years ago when he was 23. (That's right, you have to actually do math to figure out his age).

IC: Steve was knocked off his feet by the quake. That's all he could figure was, even though he knew they didn't have quakes in Colorado. Then what was it?

When Steve got to his feet the landscape had changed. He no longer knew the way out of the caves. Also the air was filled with a fine dust, he could barely see where he was going. He dropped to his hands and knees, so he wouldn't trip over anything.

As he crawled, his hand touched something that was not rock. He picked it up and held it close to his face. It was a tattered, dirty, leather wallet. The only item in the wallet that was barely legible was a driver's license. He could see a picture of a girl, obviously during happier times and her age, 23. Somebody else was in the caves and not too far away.

Steve crawled a few feet at a time then stopped and listened. His watch had been busted during his fall, so he didn't know how long he did this, but finally, he heard a strange sound. It sounded like the echo of someone's sobbing. He kept crawling forward until his hand could not feel full floor anymore.

He leaned over the edge and called out, "Hello hello, is anybody there?"

"Here... I'm here!" I called out then winced as pain shot through my shoulder from wriggling again. "please.. I'm caught in a drop... please.. don't leave me.."

I couldn't make out where the voice came from. Yet I could hear the breathing of someone and it had to be other then me. I struggled to stay conscious telling myself that someone was here. Or was I imagining that because I was in so much pain and disoriented.

There it was, the voice was coming from down in that crevice. I yelled back, "I hear you and I'm coming, hold on." I drove a couple of pinions into the wall near me. I attached a rope to one pinion, and my safety rope to the other. I was ready to go down and find her.

I slowly repelled down the line. The air was a little more clear down here, so I managed to land safely on the floor of the cave. I undid the ropes from my harness and duck walked over to the girl. She was lying partially under some rocks, which I carefully moved off of her. She had a nasty cut on her head, so I wash the cut with some water from my canteen and bandaged it.

That done, I introduced myself, "hi I'm Steve Weeks and you are? Say, do you what started this?"

"I think we've been bombed." I replied as I winced from his gentle bandaging.

The buzz from my walkie-talkie gave me no clue as to what truly happened but I knew that it wasn't going to be good.

I groaned as I tried to move my one leg it felt like lead and throbbed with pain. I cried out as it spasmed. That was causing the walls to grumble and dust to fall from overhead and making me cough.

It appeared that we needed a safer spot to rest, as the wooden beams creaked eeirily. Now I wished I was anywhere other then this cavern as my helplessness grew.

"I'm Meri Sexx.." I gave a weak grin as it must sound like the worst pun imaginable but he didn't seem to mind that.

I listened to the girls explanation. When she said, "I'm Meri Sexx.", I thought of a James Bond quote and told her 'of course you are'. I didn't know what she was rattled or trying to make a joke. I didn't much care, she was right, we needed to move to a safer place.

Steve looked around the cave. He didn't recognize this part of the cave, it was obviously a part of the caverns that was not used by spelunkers. Steve noticed an opening deeper in the cave, it went the wrong way to get to the surface, but it might be safer.

Steve said, "I'm going to try to pick you up now and carry you into the next cavern, where it may be safer. Please let me know if I'm hurting you." He gave her all reassuring smile and bent down to pick her up.

The first thing he noticed was that she was as light is a feather. The second thing was that she was a dish.

I grimaced as his arm touched my leg and when he lifted me I was shocked that I was so easy. Then I took a deep breathe to side track myself from crying out again.

As he took steps towards another opening I swore I could feel the floor shake. Maybe it was because I wasn't on the ground as he strode easily from our sifting dustpile.

"By the way.. honestly.. my name is Meri." I repeated as I hugged his neck with my good arm.

Steve

Steve smiled and said, "It's nice to meet you, Meri, although I wish it was under better circumstances." Steve ducked as he maneuvered into the other chamber. He said, "It looks more secure in here, I think we will stay here for a while."

Steve set Meri down on the floor against a sturdy wall. Her pants leg had been ripped during the fall, so he finished the job tearing it up to her thigh so he could apply first aid. He carefully washed her leg using some more water from his canteen. He could not see any open wounds, so he gingerly felt along her leg he saw her wince and carefully felt in that area again. He felt no broken bones.

"I think you've got a really bad sprain and nothing is broken. You just need to sit here and relax. Hey, are you thirsty?" Steve gave her his canteen to drink from.

"Are you sure about my leg, it hurts really bad." I even winced again as the knee relaxed. "Yes. please.. i'd like a drink."

I slowly took a sip and handed it back to him. A cloud of dust rolled in from the other chamber as a thundering rumble echoed in that area.

I looked at him and shivered. "Are we trapped down here?"

I glanced at the chamber and didn't recognize it from any of the cave tours that I took over the years. "I think we might be under the Holy City..... but I can't really tell for sure. I can hear water so it's safe to drink if we have too...." I trailed off as my heart seemed to leap from my chest as I happened to get a good look at my rescuer. He's cute! ~sigh~

Steve

Steve said, "I think we should move to the next cavern just to be sure. I will carry you, of course." Steve took a close look at Meri as he picked her up. She was as cute as a button, and very sexy too. This is not the time for that, Steve thought.

Steve picked her up and carried her into the other cavern. "This should be better for us, I think we need to rest for your leg. If we're going to get out of here, we need to be in top shape.

Meri

I nodded in agreement as he lifted me once more. I was amazed how toned he was as well.

When he sat me down again I yawned. My head still ached and I really wanted to nap and found it harder and harder to keep my eyes open.

Steve

Steve set Meri down in the new cavern. A look sturdy enough to him. Then he noticed her yawning. He got down on his knees and looked into her eyes. Steve knew that falling asleep with a concussion could be fatal. "You have to stay awake, it's a very important."

When she continued yawning, Steve knew that he had to keep her awake. Under his breath, Steve muttered," You'll thank me for this later. He began to shake her shoulders and tickle her under her arms. The wrists accidentally brushed against her full breasts, but he was too busy to notice. She had to stay awake!

I laughed at first and then winced as the noise made my head throbb again.

"Please... please stop." I chuckled but groaned.

I put out my hand and seeing his face so close to my own. I leaned my head upwards and kissed his lips ever so gently.

Steve

I was surprised, at first, when Meri kissed me. I returned her kiss, figuring it would at least keep her awake. Besides I liked it. I cradled her head in my arm as we kissed.

Steve continued the kiss until he was out of breath. Steve pulled away and looked straight into her eyes, " I like you too Meri, but don't fall asleep! It would be bad for you. Steve sat down next to Meri and kept looking into her eyes. She was beautiful and I would not let her die.

"I'll try not too." I promised as my heart fluttered from the kiss. I realized that it was an ackward action on my part. Yet I had once heard that women fell in love with the shining knight in white armor. And in a way Steve was my white knight.

There was more rumbling but we were safe in this chamber. I began to shiver as it seemed colder then before. Gads, I hoped I wasn't getting hypothermia. "I'm cold.. Steve.. really cold."

Steve

Steve took his light windbreaker off and laid it over Meri's shoulders. He then took her in his arms and held her. "It's going to be all right, Meri. I'll be here with you through the whole thing. It was lucky we were both in the cave and found each other.

"That is very true." Still shivering and wincing that my leg throbs and went to sleep. I yawned again but blinked several times to keep them open.

"Tell me about you." I asked softly hoping that the tone of his voice might help me stay focused.

Then muttered something that she heard from a movie... "Pain is what tells us that we're still alive"

Steve

"... or as the Marines say, 'Pain is just weakness leaving the body.' In either case, you are alive and getting stronger. And we will survive this, even if we are the last two people left on Earth or if a new faultline has just made itself known in Colorado, we will survive.

Steve continued, "I guess you could call me a marine brat. I followed my dad around the world, or sat on my heels in a Navy town while he was deployed to the fleet. When he finally retired, I was unsure of where to go. I went to college and that's how I came to know the pleasures of caving. I usually don't go in alone, this was just gonna be a short trip. Why don't you tell me about yourself?"

" My folks are travelers. They go everywhere.. my mother's folks live outside of Colorado Springs. I was here on a visit. I was taking the tour and got turned around. Then I felt the earth shake and fell."

I trembled a little when I thought about tomorrow. "Tomorrow is my grandpa's birthday... he's gonna be 75. I have a brother in Conniticutt who is a teacher."

Steve

I interrupted her and said, "Travelling family, huh? I guess you could say my dad and I were a traveling family too. I'm sure that your grandpa and brother will be OK. How are you? Warm enough? I've got some trail mix in my poush, hungry?"

"My mom and dad are travel tour guides. So they go everywhere. No I'm not really hungry.. I still feel a little cold though." I snuggled to his side as I suppressed another yawn.

I closed my eyes for just a minute but I reeled into a deep darkness as I fell sound asleep.

Steve

I listened to Meri talk about her parents, then say she was cold and cuddle up against me. Perhaps she didn't have a concussion, I decided to let her sleep. I wanted to make sure she was warm enough, so I put my arm around her. She was a dainty little bundle in my arms. I decided to take a nap too, fatigued by the events of the day.

I woke a few hours later and noticed that Steve was napping. I had to squirm slightly as there was the urgent need to find a bathroom cause my bladder was killing me.

I managed to hobble to a spot that seemed okay for a makeshift spot. I felt like I hadn't went in days as I heard the hissing noise and then blushed as I only had a napkin to clean up with. When I stepped from behind the column I noticed that this chamber was more soundproof to noises above ground.

I bounced back and sat next to Steve. I was sorry that I lost my pack since I had several things that would sate our hunger. I snuggled back neck to Steve and wondered if anyone was looking for us or if we were even missed yet.

Steve

Steve awoke with Meri cuddled against him. She was awake and looked better. "I'm glad you're still with us, it would've been awful lonely to be here by myself." He smiled into her eyes, they were beautiful eyes, full of life and hidden passion.

Steve suddenly felt a yearning he could not ignore. He really needed to piss, and he had let the Australians call a 'Piss-Rod'. He awkwardly got to his feet and duck walked to the other side of a boulder, attempted to hide his massive erection from the girl. "Be right back," he said over shoulder before he disappeared from view, "have to use the privy."

This chamber echoed the sound of his urination, so that it sounded like an indoor water fall. Steve cursed is bad luck and waited behind the boulder until his erection softened. He tucked his, thankfully now, limp dick into his pants, zipped up his fly and stepped out from behind the boulder with a sheepish grin.

I giggled hearing him take a piss. I was thankful that he wasn't awake when I had went earlier. I was wondering more and more about our location. I stared at the vaulted ceiling and sighed.

When Steve came back I smiled as he sat back down. "Feel better?"

His nod was a comfort but one more I was caught up in the fear that what was going on up there. I could feel my heart pound a little faster as we made small talk again. Finally I had to ask that other question. "How will we get back up to the upper levels?'
