I hurriedly made my way to the old conference room near the back of the building I work in. Its my lunchbreak and Im dying to get there and see the assortment of personal assisstants and legal secretarys that I call my friends. There are only a handful of us and we meet each day to discuss the happening of the busy law firm we all work for. Some days we just meet to eat our lunch and gossip. Other days we need to de-stress simply because our bosses can be so horrible. Today was one of those days. If I had heard my boss saying "Elizabeth, have you got me the yadda yadda file? Where is that file? What bout the yadda yadda brief?" I would go insane! I needed a little distraction and I was going to get it in the form of a good old fashioned lunchtime gossip.

A new junior partner had started at the firm today and rumor had it he was young and hot. I hadn't had the chance to see him and I wanted to find out if there was any fact in the rumors. He was said to be a tiger in the courtroom. Fighting tooth and nail for his clients. I respected that kind of lawyer. Its the kind you'd like to have on your side. It was also said that he was a tiger in the bedroom. Though that too was nothing but rumor, for the moment anyway.

I entered the long unused conference room with a flourish, greeting my friends with the usual teasing comments or compliments on their appearance. My own was fairly reasonable, though Id have said there were women in the room far more beautiful than I was. I had long, brown hair shaped around my face and sparkling blue eyes which unfortunately often gave away my thoughts and feelings. An easy smile that some said could light a room though I've yet to see it happen. I was of average build, 5'6 in height though slightly taller once wearing the stilettos I had a weakness for. A body that is curvy in all the right (though sometimes wrong) places, full breasts and an hour glass figure. Today I was dressed simply in an elecrtic blue vneck sweater, black knee length skirt, and black knee high boots. Taking a seat at the table I got straight down to it.

"Well? Has anyone seen him? Is he hot? Gorgeous? Sex on a stick? Does he look like he'd shag like a tiger?" I laugh as the conversation begins about possible sightings and speculation starts about just how much of a tiger a lawyer in this firm could be. But I really am curious as to what hes like. I'd read a lot of information about the cases he'd worked on and was impressed by the results he got. As is usual for me, I'm the kind of ring leader in this discussion, talking loudly and laughing as I do, knowing we're safe because this conference room hasn't been used in forever and no one ever comes down here. Thats why we meet here.

A lost secretary

I'd swear I left my desk somewhere around here, but for all the shuffling of papers and books over it, I still can't see it. Ever since leaving my last job as an associate and being made partner, I can't seem to keep track of much of anything. My day planner looks like it's about ready to burst at the zipper.

I fiddle with the brief in front of me, disecting it with my pen like it was a scalple. I run a reference to a motion I haven't read yet, or maybe I have and just can't remember it. A quick but thorough sweep of the warzone that is my desk turns up nothing. Hrm. I rub the tip of my nose and set back in my chair, breathing deep, before paging my secretary. That I have a secretary still tickles me.

"Jenny?" I call to the small black box. I get no response. "Ms. Cray?" I ask again. Nothing. I'm too distracted to be angry. I scoop up the brief and continue to scan as I go to the door, opening it absently and wandering down the hall to her cubicle. I call her name as I peer in again, only to find it empty. Perhaps she's gone to the restroom? I poke my head in to the open office across from hers, that of an associate attorney named Reynolds, looking for Jenny.

"I think she went to the conference room on the second floor." Reynolds says, not looking up from her own work. I thank her and head down the hall looking for the stairwell, nearly tripping over the first step as I continue to read.

I find the conference room with little difficulty, and come in, seeing Jenny sitting at the long table with a number of other people. I speak up over the din of quiet conversation

"Ms. Cray!" I say, relieved to find her. "I was wondering if you had a copy of the motion filed on December 12, the one..." I glance up from the brief and realize Jenny has a half eaten sandwich in her hands, her mouth full, and is looking at me somewhere between aghast and embarrassed. What time is it? I check my watch and realize it's more than lunchtime. I look up, mortified, at the crowd of secretaries and paralegals. Several of them seem amused, others horrified, others relieved that their bosses know better. Making matters that much better, there are several attractive ones, including a blonde in a cream-colored shirt and a brunette with a blue sweater that draws attention to her ... assets. The blonde gives me an appraising stare, while the brunette seems to be radiating sympathy at me. I look back at Ms. Cray.

"I... uh... it can wait."

"Thank you, Mr. Blakely." she says after swallowing. I nod, trying to look somewhat dignified (I think the blushing didn't help), and turn. As the door closes, I can hear Ms. Cray introduce me.

"Everyone, the illustrious Mr. William Blakely." she says quietly, but not so quietly I can't hear. I decide to ignore it, I've earned it. Well damn. Time for lunch.

Mr Blakely revealed.

The sudden intrusion of one of the partners into the conference room was unexpected. The fact that it was the very person we were talking about was almost embarrassing. I'd have wondered if his ears were burning if he wasn't so caught up in the brief he was reading. And look on his face when he realised what he'd walked into. I'm really quite glad he didnt walk in our speculating. Especially as I was the speculating the loudest!

I couldn't help but smile as he slowly backed out and Jenny confirmed what we'd all suspected the instant he set foot in the door. Waiting a minute or two to allow his escape the noise level soon grew again as we all agreed he was as hot as rumor said he was. We carried on eating, the topics of conversation changing as they invariably do, but I just could'nt help but think of the kind of confusion that was obvious in the face of Mr Blakely.

Excusing myself from the group I threw away my lunch rubbish and took the long way back to the office I worked in. It wasn't too far out of my way and I'd decided somewhere between the conference room table and the door to it that I'd offer my services to Mr Blakely, in a purely professional basis of course.

As I got closer to his office I made sure my clothes were sitting tidily and my hair was neat. Knocking on his office door I entered as I heard permission given from inside. Stepping just inside I smiled at the mess on his desk and look on his face as he carried on reading. "Hi Mr Blakely, I'm sorry to intrude. My name is Elizabeth, Liz and I just thought I'd stop by and see how you're doing." I take another step in and carry on. "I work for Jim Hartnell" I explain, naming one of the more senior partners and someone who I was told was to be Mr Blakely's kind of mentor.

"I just wanted to let you know that if you needed any help with anything or there were extra files you needed to let me know. I'll do anything I can to help you settle in here." I smile as I close the distance between myself and the desk, reaching under the clutter to pick up a pen and a piece of paper. I write my name and extention number down and hand the the piece of paper over to him. "Don't hesitate to contact me." Smiling once more, being sure to give him the full voltage one, I head back towards the door, trying not to make the extra sway in my hips too noticable.

I got back to my office without any further shame, and settle down behind my desk. The brief isn't doing itself, so I mark the page and move on for a little, scanning the paper intently. I almost miss the quiet knock on my door.

"Come." I offer.

"Hi Mr Blakely, I'm sorry to intrude. My name is Elizabeth, Liz and I just thought I'd stop by and see how you're doing. I work for Jim Hartnell. I just wanted to let you know that if you needed any help with anything or there were extra files you needed to let me know. I'll do anything I can to help you settle in here." The sympathetic brunette from the lunch break crossed the space between my desk and the door, leaning over the desk to rummage up a pen and some scratch paper, offering me quite an eyeful down that v-necked sweater. I manage not to stare too much as she scribbles an extention and a reminder on a piece of paper, smiling as I accept it.

"Don't hesitate to contact me." I murmur thanks as I watch her turn and sway out of the room. I swallow, suddenly feeling the tie around my neck tighter than I had before. I think for a little while, and go back to my brief.

About an hour later, knowing full well that Ms. Cray is back at her station. I drum on my desk with my fingers, contemplating my options. I could ask her for the memorandum and motion, or I could ask Liz. Biting my lip, I pick up the phone and dial.

"Hello, Liz? Yeah, this is Blakely. William. Um, I would want you ... I mean, I was wondering, if you had a few moments, if you could come down and help me review a few things for this brief?" I can't understand why this is as difficult as it is.

I return to my desk after checking in on Mr Blakely. He really is as hot as the rumors said he was. Who would have thought it? A good looking man who was also an amazing lawyer. I was impressed. Perhaps thats why I was so intrigued by him. Only time would tell what he would do for this company in his new role.

So when the phone rang a short while later I was pleased to here Mr Blakely's voice. "Hello, Liz? Yeah, this is Blakely. William. Um, I would want you ... I mean, I was wondering, if you had a few moments, if you could come down and help me review a few things for this brief?" Telling him I'd be there in a few minutes I made my way out oof my own office in the direction of his.

Once there I gave Jenny a wink and told her Blakely had called me, needing a hand with something. Knocking politely on the door I stuck my head around the corner. "Only me" I say, giving him a bright smile. Once he motioned me in I walk to his desk and sit down in one of the chairs opposite him. Crossing one leg over the other and smoothing my skirt over my thighs I smile once more and say "You wanted me?"
