A thank you to an unnamed author

I believe I saw a thread a few months ago discussing the rating system. At the time, the author who started the thread was complaining because someone rated his/her story poorly and that his/her high ratings were disappearing. That's something I could relate to as my once 4.71 hot story lost enough votes to drop it to 4.27. I found that very discouraging and didn't want to complete any more stories.

However, another author explained the ratings and why they disappeared for him/her and likely for me. What likely happened to me was that people voted twice and the system was going through and deleting double votes. Another author said that you likely wouldn't want to get a 5 as it would appeal to the most base instincts of people. That comment, coupled with the fact that my two favorite stories are 4.51 and I believe 4.5 has inspired me to complete the remaining stories.

So, my thanks to the community at large for inspiring me to keep going. I have just submitted my second story in the series and am already working on the third. I plan to keep going no matter what the rating is.

Echoing the others.

Those numbers can tend to intimidate when you first sign up, write, post. But once one gets past it and can write and post the labors loved, it's a lot easier on the nerves and a lot more fun.
