So we have a bunch of new R.N. Students on the floor.
Their came over to introduce them to me and explained my role in their training. (She knows me and my skills. She is waiting for me to get into the program and is actively working on finding my wife and I grants so we can get into the school.)
AS they were leaving she handed me an envelope while telling me it was from one of the students I had helped train last year.
WEll when I got a chance I opened the envelope and pulled out a letter as well as a disk. When I read the letter I started laughing. Oh how I remembered this student.
You see this student came from a different background from the other students in her class. For one she was older than the rest of her class. She had a warped sense of humor and she approached her patients openly and without fear.
It took a couple of times working together before she trusted me enough to let me in on her background.
We were working on a patient when I asked her what she did for a living outside of school. At first I thought she was pulling my leg when she told me she was a stripper. I think I shocked her when I didn't bat an eye to this, instead I just asked her if she was any good.
That was when she opened up and explained to me how it happened that she was a stripper. I still wasn't shocked, instead I listened to her tale and then agreed with her choices.
I worked with her for the rest of that semester. Towards the end of the semester she informed me that she had found another job. I congratulated her on this and wished her well in her schooling.
In her letter to me she reminded me of my helping her and of how I had supported her. She also informed me that she had just received her license and was employeed by a hospital further upstate. She thanked me for my help and my understanding.
The disk was a parting gift from her to me.
When I got home I popped the disk into the computer and found multiple movie files. The first was her graduation ceremony from School. The next was a clip of her getting pinned. The last was titled by the name "You tell me". When I opened this I found it to be a fairly profeesionaly done clip of one of her shows. (Her last one as a matter of fact.)
Now that is a thank you.
