In a far away kingdom, a girl without a mother and a distant father finds she has a certain ability. When she sings, everyone who hears it is lulled into a deathlike sleep. Princess Alyssa knows she must flee, she can only mask her voice for so long before diaster strikes. Her hope is found in a young stable boy who she played with as a child, he alone is immune to her 'curse'. They set off leaving the castle behind and setting off on a journey of a lifetime.
Characters we need:
Caleb: Stableboy who knows of Alyssa's gifts and helps her escape.
Phoenix: Young tribal leader
Salene: mythical witch of the sacred forest
Aurora: sleeping princess (wont be needed till close to the end)
IC:
Once Upon a Time....

Alyssa lay sleeping fitfully in her bed another nightmare had come to her in the early morning hours. A cock crowed outside her high window. In a flurry she threw the bedclothes off and darted to the window, the sleep haze making her believe that her dream might have come true, that the kingdom she would behold outside her window would no longer be. She had been plauged by dreams of destruction for the past 4 years of her life. She knew that Lycastis, her voice teacher would no longer be immune to her gift. Yesterday during her voice lesson he actually fell asleep and did not wake up until midnight, thats when she had masked her voice to her utmost ability. ~~~~~
Night fell upon the castle and the surrounding hills. Alyssa had skipped her singing lesson that day and her father had delivered rather disturbing news, she, Alyssa was to perform a song at her sister betrothal feast in a fortnight. She knew that she could no longer deny that her gift was getting strong. She needed to leave. She sat on her window seat looking out and up at the full yellow moon, imploring her to help, to show her the way , and what to do. A soft melody came to her, which she began to sing it was a song from her childhood, one of her only memories from her mother.

"Sweet child, you came into my life
And I made you my wife
You turned my world around
Wont ya write this down
Now I'm free from the sorrow
I'll be free come tomarrow
Now Im free from the pain

Love child
How i wish you didnt know
theres no place for me to go
She took your love away from me yesterday
Now Im free from the sorrow
I'll be free from tomarrow
And Im free from the pain"

She finished tears welling in her eyes, she thought she heard her mothers voice raise in song with hers but knew she was imaging things. She heard a gasp from below her and saw A boy, her age, tears also glistening in his eyes. "Princess that was..." Alyssa's hand went to her mouth, a small gasp escaping her lips."Caleb I.." She didnt know what to say but knew that since he wasnt asleep she could trust him. "Celab meet me tomarrow in the west corridoor library at the noon hour, " she looked to him, "Tis of the utmost importance and secrecy" With that Caleb nodded swiftly and was off, Alyssa latched her shutters and laid in her bed praying for the morning.

Caleb sat in the stables after speaking to Alyssa, no it supposed to be Princess Alyssa, he slapped himself a few times.

“What are you thinking Caleb, you are only a peasent, what business do you have going there and seeing her.”

He sighed as he brushed a horse that was in there.

“She is of royal blood and I am of a dogs blood, no dogs are better than me, they don’t got to work. But Wolves are different, even if they are hunters, they are still workers, I am glad I have a mix between the two. Daisy come here girl.”

A white wolf looking dog runs and steers the horse up, it has white fur with a line of red over its back and its eyes are a gold and green. It runs to Caleb and it sits in front of him. Caleb pats the horse and he calms it down.

“Whoa, whoa… its alright, its just Daisy.”

Daisy raises a paw up and seems to be waving at the horse, Caleb saw the horse calm itself and he sighed, Caleb was always good with animals and he didn’t know why.

“Daisy, after this we got to go and train some more, go and fetch my wood sword, the heavy one, I know you can do it, meet me at the spot.”

He finally finished getting the horse groomed and he smiled as he patted it on the head.

“I will see you later, be good no ok.”

By nature this black horse was a mean one, never let anyone on or even near it, but for some reason it let Caleb around, even ride it. Caleb always laughed, Daisy ran off and did as Caleb wanted him to do and Caleb followed and headed off into the forest to train.

Caleb’s hair was a long brownish color, it hung to his mid back and he kept it tied back, he let a small bang hang in the middle of his head, it stood up like a quails and he always thought it was cool looking.

“Daisy, lets start training.”

Daisy was sitting beside two swords, one large wooden sword and a smaller one, Caleb walked over and picked up the large one and he swung it up and down a couple of times.

“Good…”

He than began his training. He had to get Alyssa… no, no Princess Alyssa off his mind, yes they were childhood friends, but she was different now, there was class involved.

“I will be there for you tomorrow as you asked.”

He started to work up a sweat and he pulled his shirt off and the sun glistened off the sweat on his skin, he was well defined, very cut and taken care of. He did this training for a while.

Alyssa lay in her bed for some hours the rest of the darkness of the early morning. She rose with the sun and sat at her window, a small book open on her lap as she felt the cool breeze of the morning. This was what she did, that and sewing. And she was even made fun of for her love of reading.

She dressed leaving her hair down and slid on her slippers. She would sneak down to the library and wait, hopefully Caleb would meet her.

SHe got there through the hidden cooridoors and was soon sitting at the writing desk scribbling furiously on a peice of parchment, her brown hair falling into her face.

Caleb fell asleep out in the forest with Daisy and he woke to the sun shining down on him, Caleb woke with a smile.

“Hello to you beautiful…”

He than looked down to Daisy that was his pillow and she yawned at him and closed his eyes.

“Come on lazy, we got somewhere to be.”

He patted Daisy on the head and she looked to him as she got up and stretched. Caleb picked the wood swords up and he placed his dagger in his belt and he took off running to store the weapons, he dropped them off in the stable as he patted some of the horses and he took off to the library.

“Daisy here we go.”

He walked around the back where Alyssa told him to go and soon found himself with Daisy walking down a dark tunnel, when he was walking.

“No, no its Princess Alyssa, remember that stupid.”

He sighed as he got to the end of the tunnel and he opened the sliding passage and found himself in the library, he went to the meeting spot and Daisy came too.

“Aly… Princess Alyssa… “

He saw her sitting at a desk and writing something, he came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, but she saw Daisy sit beside her.

“Princess, how fare you today?”

He bowed to her. He had flowers in his hand.

Alyssa sat in the sunlight from the windowsill. Her body small and lithe in her form fitting gown. Dressed in dark green she was startlingly beautiful, Her hazel eyes stared down at the parchment, her mind trying to stay on the task at hand. Her hair which was usually bound up tight was lose and long about her shoulders and ever moment or so she would flick it away from her eyes.

She was startled by the tap on her shoulder to see Caleb and Daisy, she turned and smiled at her friend who had become a man she could hardly recognize. "Caleb.." she said softly a smile on her face, she fought the urge to embrace him.

“My dear Princess, how fare you today. I am here like you asked me to be, Daisy even wanted to come.”

He patted Daisy on the head and he looked to her gown.

“Might I say that is a lovely gown, but that compares nothing to your most beautiful presence.”

He bowed again to you and he laid the flowers in front of you.

“For you, a small token for my Princess.”

He smiled at her.

“What would you have me do for you today.”

He had to be formal with her, it was part of the respect he had for her and if he didn’t he was sure that he would not be allowed back in here.

Alyssa looked at the flowers with a smile her cheeks blushing as he complimented her. "Caleb such formalities, call me Alyssa and thank you for the flowers," she smiled at him and held her hand out to pet daisy. She turned and signed the parchment and rolled it up. "Caleb I have a huge favor to ask," she said as she got up and slid the parchment into her pocket.

"I need to leave here, I can't explain why right now, and I am in great need of your aid, I understand if you do not want to leave, and I'm sorry for asking, I just didn't know who else I could trust..." there were tears in her eyes now as she looked up at him trying to smile.

He didn’t believe what she was saying.

“What did you just say again Alyssa…. I mean Princess Alyssa, you want to leave, why don’t you just ask your parents if you can leave the grounds. What it sounds like is you want to run away.”

He heard those words and he shook his head.

“Whoa, whoa, that cant happen, and whoever you ask to help will be beheaded in front of the town and castle. What is wrong with staying here?”

He shook his head again.

“Before I do anything that will get me killed, I want to know why.”

"Caleb...James, my father's Viser is trying to marry me and my father wants me to sing at my sister's wedding and I can't Caleb, you might not know this," she stepped forward and lowered her voice, "You are the only person I have encountered who does not fall asleep at the sound of my voice, I know it sounds crazy but you have to believe me, nevermind," She said stepping away. "I shouldnt ask this of you it's not fair, I'm sorry," She walked towards the door.

Caleb had heard this before, he saw it first hand when he was spying on her one time, but never thought anything of it, he thought he was seeing things, but now with her telling him of this, it was true.

“Princess Alyssa, wait don’t go…”

He followed her and called her name again.

“Princess Alyssa I am sorry.”

ALyssa turned around to face Caleb, walking back into the library. She leaned against the now closed door, "Caleb, it was unfair to ask this from you, I know that, I dont know what I was thinking..I just tried to remember the last time I felt safe... and that was with you," she could not look at him.

"But you could be killed, your right... and I would not put you into that kind of danger."

He looked to her and he smiled.

“Well I have been training harder than before, its just getting a real sword. I only have this small dagger, but if you are serious which I know you are not, I would be happy to help you.”

He smiled again and laughed a bit.

“You are very funny Princess, but I am sure there are many other times when you felt safe, and not around me. Who will kill me, the guards, or the wizard that studies here in this castle, I am afraid of him, but the warriors I have seen, not that great.”

He patted her on the shoulder.

“So lets be serious, what did you really want?”

ALyssa looked up at him and shook her head, "I am serious Caleb, but you know what? forget it, I'm leaving at midnight, thank you for your friendship and I am sorry we could not have seen more of each other.." with that she leaned over and kissed his cheek and rushed from the room so arriving at her chambers and beginning to pack. Why had she asked Caleb? Because he didnt fall asleep? She automatically assumed that he would come and risk his life for her.

"I'm so stupid," she cursed to herself, as she shoved her bag under her bed and left the room to steal some food from the kitchens.

Thank you for the friendship… what the hell was that supposed to mean?

“Alyssa…”

He saw her take off and she seemed hurt.

“Damn it, she is serious, Daisy, we got to help her, she will end up getting herself hurt or worse… come on girl, there is a world of danger and adventure out there and now we have a reason to go out to it. Lets run.”

They took off the same way they came in and packed some gear, well the only stuffed they owned, Daisy watched as Caleb practiced a bit more as he only took the large wooden sword and he strapped it to his back as he patted his dagger and than patted Daisy on the head.

“She is leaving at midnight, we have hours. Lets get to the back of the castle before than.”

Daisy nodded and they took off, only taking the bare minimum, a few extra clothes and small pieces of bread. Caleb didn’t have much or any money, he sighed as he looked a small red gem and a few silver coins.

“Damn me and my luck with money. But enough about me, lets go.”

They both ran to the back of the castle where they knew she would come and they waited till midnight.

Alyssa had packed what things she had, on her bed lay a suicide note, directing anyone who was likely to search for her, to search for her body near the sea cliffs, the opposite way she intended to travel. It should gain her some time. She sat at her desk as night came and the servants left food in her room. She didnt touch it. She knew midnight was coming and soon had gotten her stuff. and pulling on her cloak she rushed towards the stables.

Caleb hung around outside and he didn’t know when midnight was, he just sighed and waited outside for her to come, she would have to come this way because there are too many guards in the front.

“Come on Alyssa, don’t show up.”

But Daisy’s head picked up and he looked to the back door swing open and there she was.

“Princess Alyssa, wait don’t take another step.”

You saw Caleb strong form walking to you, a huge wooden sword strapped to his back and a look of care in his eyes.

“I didn’t think you were serious about this, and now I see that you are. So I will go with you to keep you out of danger, I would hate myself if something happened to you and because I was not there to help you, Daisy would hate me for that.”

He looked her right in the eyes, his Crimson brown eyes searching for reason.

“Why are you doing this, there better be a good reason for me not to go and tell the guard, so make me a believer Alyssa.”

Alyssa looked up at him and listened to Caleb, her heart racing. She had had no idea who it had been, and now she regreted stopping her steps. She listened to his words and heard the care in his voice, she nodded at him and stepped forward towards him. "Fine, you want me to make you believe...go over and watch the gaurds.

Alyssa closed her eyes and concentrated deep within. In a few seconds of silence a single note rang out, soft and low, but fine enough to peirce every heart. She cut it short to hear the sound of armor clattering to the floor and bodies thudding against stone. "See Caleb? One note and they'll be sleeping for hours...do you believe me now?"

He watched as she walked over and sang a note and he was amazed at the sight of the guards falling over, he looked to Daisy and saw her a bit dazed.

“Daisy, snap out of it.”

He petted her side and Daisy shook her head and he watched as Alyssa came back.

“How the hell did you do that? That was a beautiful note, but why put them to sleep? But I do believe you.”

He didn’t know what to think.

“Lets go, come on and please don’t sing… I don’t want to die any time soon.”

He took her by the hand and he pulled her along towards the river.

“I am sorry, but it is a bit much to see.”

Alyssa just shook her head and pulled away from Caleb, "Horses," she said as she entered the stables and pulled herself onto a brown mare, no saddle or reins, "Come on get up," she said, one hand laced into its mane and the other held out for Caleb.

"They'll be out for hours, by the teim they come searching for me, they'll find the note and check the seaside," she informed him.

He didn’t even realize that she was pulling him, he found himself at the stables again and shook his head. She mounted a horse and he only shook his head again.

“Princess, there are saddles here, I packed on in case I had to go and search for you.”

He helped her down, he couldn’t help but to touch her ass and he only blushed as he did so.

“Sorry Princess, I didn’t mean to violate you.”

He quickly saddled the horse and he went and he gently stroked the other horses fine sides.

“I will be gone for awhile, I am sorry. I have a important task to take care of, Charlie will look after you guys. Goodbye.”

He looked back as he helped Alyssa onto the horse and he leaped on as well, he looked down to Daisy.

“Daisy, follow along.”

He rode off.

“That is some power you have there, sweet and innocent, but dark and vile at the same time.”

He let her control the horse, the saddle had food and water, extra clothes and a sleeping bag. He held onto her waist and only smiled. He looked back and saw Daisy following behind.

“So where are we going Princess.”

ALyssa brushed off his apology and slid down letting him saddle the horse. She slid into the saddle and smiled at he slid his arms around her waist, "To the north," she kicked the horse into motion and they set off at a gallop "The forests will give us time to blend in, they will search for my body in the sea and eventually give up. We can lay low for as long as we like," Alyssa informed him as they took off towards the dark group of trees.

She handled the horse like a pro and only thing Caleb could do was smile.

“I figured we would go to the forest, just head towards the river, I know a little cave that we can make a shelter out of.”

He rested his head on her shoulder and he sighed.

“I feel like we are kids again, I missed you Princess.”

"I missed you too Caleb," Alyssa said softly as they took off towards the river, ALyssa had been riding for years, and she used to ride with Caleb all the time, something about his arms around her made her cheeks flush.

She had left and Caleb had come with her, now she wasnt so alone anymore.

“You didn’t really miss me, but its ok.”

He hugged her tight and he smiled.

“So what have you been doing all this time, since when have you had this power and have you told anyone else, and is anyone else not affected like me.”

He whispered in your ear.

"Yes I have Caleb, our freindship was much better then being locked in a cold sewing room all day to listen to idle gossip about boys, believe me I would have rather been in the forest playing with you..." She said smiling and listened to his other question.

"The power didnt start to come out until my last birthday, I've been trying to mask my voice and as far as I know you're the only one who can stand my voice without sleeping... and the caVes up here isnt i?" She urged the horse over the river to a small rock face.
