The following, from the Sun, is something that could, properly done, work well with politicians here in the USA. Of course, it would really be necessary that the train not miss the politician. (I can instantly think of several candidates.)

However, the apparent inflicting of cuts and bruises by emergency workers is just not right (see red, bolded section below.) You Londoners need to rethink the selection process for emergency workers (or Sun writers.) JMNTHO.

MP throws himself in front of train

A TORY MP has miraculously survived after throwing himself under a commuter train at a busy station.

David Ruffley, 48, was shadow minister for Policing before the election, but missed out on a ministerial post.

He jumped in front of the Gatwick Express at London's Victoria Station during the rush hour on Thursday. Incredibly, the train passed right over him and he also missed the live rail.

He was pulled back on to the platform suffering cuts and bruises by emergency workers after the train was backed up.

Mr Ruffley was then taken to St Thomas's Hospital for checks.

British Transport Police treated the incident as "non-suspicious" - and ruled out the possibility of an accidental fall. One source said: "One minute he was standing on the platform and then jumped in front of a train as it was pulling into the station. He missed death by a few inches and landed just away from the live electric rail.

"Station staff called police and the ambulance service.

"The train was backed up and emergency workers lifted him on to the platform and he was taken to hospital."

A source added: "It was not believed to be an accident. Witnesses said he deliberately tried to jump in front of the train. At this stage it appears to have been a half-hearted attempt to kill himself."

Mr Ruffley has been a Tory MP for Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, since 1997. He was shadow minister for Policing until last month's General Election - but he was left without a ministerial portfolio.

The MP worked as a special adviser to Kenneth Clarke in the early to mid-1990s, when he was Education Secretary, Home Secretary and then Chancellor.

A Tory Party spokesman said: "David Ruffley received minor injuries at a London railway station."

It won't work with our politicians, first their too stupid to know when they have been slighted. Second I don't think any of them know what a train is or where to find one.

Even if they fight like hell and still loose the election they just go out and start a new religion making millions of dollars off their devoted followers. And they still wouldn't know where to find a train.

You'd feel pretty silly whenever the next major bill camp up for a vote in Congress--almost any bill--and find there was no one alive there to vote on it. You'd find out real quick quick how much you rely on government just cooking along and enabling your life. (And I sort of wish some of you would experience this lesson. Maybe you'd stop your naive, self-centered natterings.)

Talk about a poor loser...although the thought of losing all those perks and bennies as a Minister would be a staggering blow. ;)

I bet they're smart enough to know the correct usage of "they're" and "lose."

Ah yes, the benefits of government. Let's see. California and New York are bankrupt. The federal government was require to have oil booms in place to contain spills in the Gulf of Mexico, they didn't. And who can forget the brave scumbags of New Orleans, deserting the city during Katrina. However, I will grant you that the federal government has been right on the job economically. Why if Congress hadn't taken swift action, we could have unemployment near 10% ... wait.
