That's one view. I've been a professional writer and editor for fifty years and can assure you that I have never seen a story that didn't need editing -- especially my own!

Your eye, as the writer, can't see what readers find. It's a simple fact. And when that editor is finished, chances are it could stand yet another look by someone else. Clearly that chain must stop somewhere but your question was whether editing is needed by you.
