Iris Cooper
Iris Cooper was the daughter of a fisherman that had been known to see unique fish, for years he had been telling people stories of fish no where near them. Iris didn't believe her father so she decided to have her father prove it, and made a bet with her father. If she saw nothing special he would give her two thousand dollars for her to spend it how ever she wanted it. Iris was a animal activist and wanted to make sure that only the animals that is captured was fish and nothing else. But she also makes sure the fish die quickly and with respect, she knew all to well turtles and sharks to name a few die illegally and slowly.
She hates that people eat animals period she was the same, she actually hates that she herself loves meat and fish. It kinda made her a hypocrite, and was called as such. But her choice to be on that boat at that exact time would change her, but she won't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but she didn't want innocent life to be lost. The weather was dark and gray, it looked like a bad storm was just around the corner. She loved the sea and loved the violence of the water, to her it was a very powerful and very chaotic force that no one or nothing could stop, such untapped power was beauty in itself.
It was about one in the afternoon and the men on the boat we're starting to bring in nets. She was on the other side of the ship when all of a sudden she heard yelling. It worried her what was going on so she ran, and ran quickly. When she pushed herself through the men it was there she saw it. Her eyes locked into the creatures eyes and felt an instant connection. Her eyes showed shock and hearing what the men wanted to do with it. She had no idea what this was, she thought it was a merman. Top half was human and waste down a beautiful tail. But when she heard they were going to put it in the huge tank down below.
She knew they would sell him and would get a ton of money for him. That thought made her sick and went to her father, begging him to release the creature. It all he said was no and licked his door so she couldn't continue to fight him. She was super pissed and turn around taking a knife from her pocket. When they could see each other she flicked her wrist causing the blade to come out. She waited till everyone was away and got on top of it and started to cut the rope. She didn't know if he could understand her, or if he could read what was going on in her head.
"Hang On!" She yelled
When she cut the net she went crashing with it, hitting her head on the way down. She sank to the bottom and no one noticed her gone, she had no clue what was going on while she was out but when she woke up she was on a beach and seemed to be on an island. She slowly sat up grunting her head hurt so much, she didn't know where she was but didn't understand how she survived. But she felt eyes on her and was to dizzy to stand on her feet.
"I know your there you don't have to be afraid"
