A Simple Question

It appears that when a woman posts on Lit, she is immediately deluged with PMs to the point where it is next to impossible to find anyone ineresting.

Men, on the other hand, are generally met with silence.

So, my question (to both sexes) is how often have you managed to connect with someone here? How did you interact? Chat? Email? Phone? IRL? (And yes, I realize that is more than one question...)

Personally I found it easy to connect with certain people, instead if rushing and forcing the issue. Just be patient, that way by seeing posts from others you realise you both may have something in common or just really like how they think.

Then like most things in life just come together.

Can't say I've ever started a thread, so I can't really say if that would garner a little interest. But call this a shot in the dark but if I did, I think it's fair to say my 'reward' would be tumbleweed and a few strategically placed crickets. Typically the gals are never short of eager volunteers.

I've spoken to a few but aside from a few witty exchanges, sod all. Which is fine because I'm not exactly seeing attention. In the past, different sites, I have connected with a few women and even travelled to see and meet them, and even a bit more besides.

I believe that both of those statements are true, the latter certainly in my experience. I am given to understand that a large percentage of unsought PMs that women receive are along the lines of "I'd like to fuck you, where can we meet?" though in slightly less literate terms than that.*

Connections - not enough to run out of fingers to count them - but those few I have made I've thoroughly enjoyed. All have basically stemmed from building up a rapport in threads first - particularly when exchanges in a thread happen in real time and become more of a chat, then moving into PMs and, in a couple of cases, to email. IRL - I suspect that connections that spill over into RL are probably few and far between and given that most people on here are in the US and I'm not, make that fewer and farther.

Yes, I certainly do not wish to start receiving the type of reply that women fairly often do.
