Is this site pornographic? I know we sometimes refer to it as one but I don't consider it pornographic. I guess my opinion sounds strange but I have come to believe that our site is more erotic in nature. Maybe I am fooling myself but I think the term pornographic connotes something that yields a bad effect on the fabric of society and I just don't think this site does that.

I have read of some members leaving Lit because it made tham feel they were doing something wrong. We also have some women at this site who are only 18 or 19 interacting sexually with men 40 and 50 years old. Outside on the street if a man that old made a sexual comment to an 18 year old teenage girl he would be looked upon with disdain. Are we somehow above society's pornographic rules?

What's your opinion about this site and its realtionship to pornography and society.

Literotica is the definition of porn in this society.. it's the freedom to be as erotic as you want.. it has all the right stuff.. and Laurel is a goddess (just had to add that)...

Your check's in the mail, sweet thing...

Pornography? *smile* The term itself is infused with controversy. Based on the way our society has compartmentalized the meaning of "pornography" I'm not quite sure how to respond to this.

In my mind, violence is pornographic. Literotica is erotic.

But I admit there are times I use the terms pornographic and erotic interchangeably.

If you spend most of your time at Lit here on the general board as I do, it's almost possible to forget this site has anything to do with sex. Of the threads on the front page right now, only three of them are really about sex.

The stories range from merely erotic to explicity pornographic. You get to choose which ones you read.

I think Literotica provides a very safe and healthy way to express and explore your sexuality. It's a place for fantasies, a place to share intimate thoughts and to ask embarrassing questions you couldn't ask anyone else.

It's all good!

Also, most of them are "fun sex" threads as the "serious" threads appear to get buried quickly.

I think that because I spend most of my time in the BB community, I forget about the fact that this is a porn site. Here the sex issue is more a healthy respect for a natural and exciting part of all of our lives.

I think this site rises up higher than porn. The only thing I really consider pornography on this site are the banner ads. Those are porn.

I'd like to maintain that this site is a bit classier than one's run-of-the-mill porno site. :) That's why I post my stories here.

Sex... Sex... and more sex...
we don't want nothing but dirty, sweaty, mind blowing, monkey loving, heart wrenching, chandelier swinging sex!!!!!

Oops, no chandelier.

;)
This site is special, tastfull, well thought out, and caters for the sexual needs of male and female, in the many differant aspects of sexual behavour, this is why I keep comming back day after day. Every day is a new experiance.
It is the defination of what you call pornographic. Pictures of people in the nude, in explicit postiions showing their private parts, the act of fucking is pornographic. (Have I missed something on Literotica?) I find this site very erotic. Erotic is pertaining to or prompted by love, pornography is literature in which prostitutes appear. It is up to each member to decided, what they want, and how they extract their needs. Im 62, and I am selective with whom I interact with, I do not make a secret of my age, so it is the females choice. The other problem is of course, that 80% of the people who visit adult sites are male, (so Im told), and a some are under 18. I hate to think of how many guys I may have had an erotic moment with, when they are pretending to be female, that to me is a bigger problem then interacting with a younger woman.

Porn-Plus

I have never seen anything run the gauntlet like "literotica.com." It is erotica at its best [stories], intellect at the extremes of the spectrum (from brilliant to insipidly stupid) [BB], exhibitionism displayed in all its glory [Amateur Pics], egotism displayed in all human format imaginable [all of the above], and the presentation of people who are obviously dedicated to excellence [Laurel, Manu, & others?].

To try to categorize this website with any single term would be doing it an injustice. I agree with SpecialK, the real porn is in the banner ads but we all have to make a living. I am not surprised to see Laurel's comment that the site garners over 100,000 visitors a day.

Personally, the one single thing that this site elicits from me is emotion. The stories, of course, do their job of releasing of the right hormones but it is the bulletin board that seems to have effected me the most. I have laughed until my sides hurt, felt anger that curls my lips, and experienced feelings of empathy that make me want to reach out and hug the author. Sometimes I try to read between the lines of what has been written by an individual; try to figure out the motivation behind their post. I'm probably 180 degrees out sometimes but with others, it's as plain as the ass-on-a-goat.

Maybe it ought to be called "Porn-Plus." Regardless, I'll be here for awhile watching it evolve and grow.

pornography or erotica

The British crap newspaper "The News of the world" used to have as a sub-heading: "All human life is there" Literotica is that, and then some. Some of the stuff I don't like, some is great, I can't warm to stories that start " You are waiting....." etc. But what the hell...
For those of you who read French, there's a nice site called http:revebebe.free.fr, on which I and many others post stories. It's an ad-free zone, your francophone comrade-in-arms, I guess. I hope that it is acceptable to draw the attention of fellow-literoticans to the fact that we are not alone in our interests.

I tend to forget that literotica is a porn / erotic site.
Then I read one of Killermuffins stories, and it all comes back to me hehe

If this site weren't pornographic we'd have thirteen year olds running around the place. One of the few reasons why I frequent adult sites is because I want to interact with adults.

Not porn?

Oh. That takes all the fun out of it. Damn. So I hereby declare this a PORN SITE!

Amen to that!

Play it again, Tom...

Personally, I don't think anything committed in the mind or fantasized about is wrong. Dark...silly...sensual...sexy, it's all fair play. And this site is a fabulous romper room ;-)

I don't think this is a PORN site. I think it's a smut site. Porn is boring. Smut is fun.

Here's how Tom Lehrer puts it better than me...

http://hitcomedy.com/index.html?http://hitcomedy.com/act/lehrer/Smut.html

Smut

I do have a cause, though, it is obscenity. I'm for it! Thank you. Unfortunately, the civil liberties types who are fighting this issue have to fight it, owing to the nature of the laws, as a matter of freedom of speech and stifling of free expression and so on. But we know what's really involved: dirty books are fun! That's all there is to it. But you can't get up in a court and say that, I suppose. It's simply a matter of freedom of pleasure, a right which is not guaranteed by the Constitution, unfortunately. Anyway, since people seem to be marching for their causes these days, I have here a march for mine. It's called:

Smut!
Give me smut and nothing but!
A dirty novel I can't shut
If it's uncut
and unsubt-le.

I've never quibbled
If it was ribald.
I would devour
Where others merely nibbled.
As the judge remarked the day that he acquitted my Aunt Hortense,
"To be smut
It must be ut-
Terly without redeeming social importance."

Por-
Nographic pictures I adore.
Indecent magazines galore,
I like them more
If they're hard core.

Bring on the obscene movies, murals, postcards, neckties, samplers, stained
glass windows, tattoos, anything!
More, more, I'm still not satisfied!

Stories of tortures
Used by debauchers
Lurid, licentious and vile,
Make me smile.
Novels that pander
To my taste for candor
Give me a pleasure sublime.
Let's face it I love slime!

Old books can be indecent books,
Though recent books are bolder.
For filth, I'm glad to say,
Is in the mind of the beholder.
When correctly viewed,
Everything is lewd.
I could tell you things about Peter Pan
And the Wizard of Oz - there's a dirty old man!

I thrill
To any book like Fanny Hill,
And I suppose I always will
If it is swill
And really fil-thy.

Who needs a hobby like tennis or philately?
I've got a hobby: rereading Lady Chatterley.
But now they're trying to take it all away from us unless
We take a stand, and hand in hand we fight for freedom of the press.
In other words: Smut! I love it.
Ah, the adventures of a slut.
Oh, I'm a market they can't glut.
I don't know what
Compares with smut.
Hip, hip, hooray!
Let's hear it for the Supreme Court!
Don't let them take it away!

and this is from the whiner's leader. you have to stick up for everybody? that dot on your head affecting your brain?

Enough!!

Ok buddy.. thats enough.. you don't wanna start shit like that... See my title.. it says "Moderator".. that means something around this place.. and you are pushing the line...

Ooooo HS that's scary. Everyone here has seen what it means and it means nothing you can say what you want to anybody and its fine. Threaten or whatever the hell you want right? Free fucking speech for all.

I'd have to agree with STF*Up here HSWriter. I do not believe anyone will be intimidated by your title on the General Board. Though I don't know the extent of your authority, I doubt that you could ban him/her from the site and if you choose to alter his/her post he/she will just repeat it and add more on.
