Often I've had to leave a story in the middle to do something else. A bookmarking feature would be so handy to bring me back to the exact point I left off. Sure I know there are other ways to accomplish this but most of the them just bring you back to the beginning of the chapter. When it's a long one, it's a really pain to scan through and pick up at the same point again. Most readers just use the favourite feature but as an author I get a little tired of these frequent "like/unlike" notices.

Once it's enabled, there's a reading list feature in the new CP.

For now, you can't add anything to it, because the buttons will be part of the story pages. Once that goes live, there will be a way to bookmark stories that doesn't involve using the favorite story list, which is separate.

I think it's still only going to allow you to lock in a submission to read later, rather than the specific Lit page, though.
