A republican trifecta

I was concerned that if the R's didn't keep the House we'd see a never ending round after round of impeachment resolutions that would go nowhere in the Senate but which would bind the Congress into stasis where they could do nothing at all.

With the power in the hands of the R's in both chambers, that scenario is avoided.

I only hope that those in Congress stop cucking themselves with each other and govern as we the people deserve to be governed. Because 2026 isn't that long from now and poor performance will be properly rewarded.

Just take care of business. Set an example. Propose a budget...

Instead of a CR. I hope Trump takes them to task on that.
If it's "his" party (I think it's really Liz's) let's
see him CRACK THAT WHIP!!!

[DEVO here]

My question is really whether Congress will do anything at all except the bare.minimum. I think it will be like Biden got, which was a few major legislative wins followed by ignoring major things like immigration/border reform.

It still almost feels surreal that it happened.

But in a oh such a good way.

Now to see if the democrata try preventing him getting certified.
It's a testament to Trump's work ethic. He simply outworked Harris. He had something like 6 rallies on the last day finishing at 3:30am Monday. Not bad for a 78 year old man.

Ya, hopefully he chills out a bit before putting that work ethic to good use for the American people. I'm excited to see how much and how quickly he gets things done now.

I want to see the new cabinet, especially the new AG and head of the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ. I want to see a Trump Civil Rights Division suing states who violate the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens and conspire to side step the Heller and Bruen decisions.

You know that would be all 50 right?

26 states already have constitutional carry. In those states you can carry without a permit.

Okay. The 2nd states the right to bare arms shall not be infringed. Is there a single state where I can buy literally any weapon I want? Where exactly are you drawing the line on what constitutes violating the Constitution. I've told you and you've never given a reason beyond "Dur" how I'm wrong that as written Iran has every right to the bomb. The Constition claims these rights are either God given or natural. Doesn't matter which the important part is that the government takes them away. So while we don't control Iran we control ourselves and can and should live up to our ideals.

Never mind that though. Should I be able to pick up grenades at my local military weapons shop? Those sure would be nice in fighting off a tyrannical government. RPGs? .50 cal? Is crew served weaponry where you draw the line. Can you at least give a consistent line. I can give you mine at least on this particular subject.

First. The Constitution is badly outdated for the reasons already stated. If we follow the piece of paper I should be able to have mustard gas. I think we collectively as a people not only can, we have an obligation to set reasonable gun laws. I'm 100% for background checks. Given the stats from the FBI I think we should have a serious talk about how easily a person can obtain a handgun. The stats show not only are most homicides committed with hand guns but more than that if the police could be reasonably certain I wasn't armed. Who am I kidding, I'm black they think I can leap tall buildings in a single bound and rip out throats with my teeth. Jokes aside maybe cops would be less jumpy if concealable weapons were less frequent. For all the hoopla around basically school shootings shotguns and rifles are used in relatively few crimes. Few enough that banning them feels good and might lower the very specific mass shootings but there has to be some other way to work that angle.

Oh and that whole gun control doesn't work is flat out disputed by the facts. I'm old enough to remember when uzis were a thing. When armor piercing rounds were a thing. And lets be honest if ANYBODY had done something as simple as toss a few grenades at the release of the PS6 Gamestop midnight release, the new iPhone release, Black Friday at your local Walmart you'd know because it would a historic moment on par with at least the rarely spoken about Boston Bombing. These things don't happen because even for a criminal the hoops you must jump through to get military grade explosives makes it something that simply does not happen. The Brits stab each other (though they get fewer kills which is the point) China, Japan, Russia, France I could go all the way up and down Industrialized, First World Nations whatever term you choose to use on this particular front but don't claim it doesn't work. Admit you believe the price paid is worth being a position to maybe fight off the government.

So far it appears that speaker Johnson has been able to assert some discipline on the members to prevent them chasing down individual mink holes. From my perspective the most important thing he can do up front is to get the budget process back to regular order. No more of these fucking omnibus spending bills or continuing resolutions.

That’s about right except the last point. I can guarantee there will be action on that front.
