Dex stepped out of his car and looked around. It was a cool day early in April. Spring was a little late in arriving, but it was fast on its way now. The trees were beginning to bloom again, children were playing outside, the snow of the harsh winter this year was nowhere to be seen. Perfect.

Dex tossed back his long, blonde hair over his shoulders and reached into the car to fish out some of his luggage. It had been a grueling six months on the road leading up to this much-needed vacation. Part of him hoped to see the premiere of his show, while the other part was too burned out from producing it to worry one way or the other about seeing himself on TV. And that's why he was here. Production on the first season of Shadowborne had ground him down to a nervous wreck. Working with a TV crew was a hellish experience, especially when dealing with a producer who was just as much of a control freak as Dex himself.

He pulled out a suitcase, a duffel bag, and his aluminum attache case that contained most of his props. The others were stashed away in various pockets in his clothes and the luggage. He was on vacation, but that was excuse to stop practicing. He'd just have to keep it subdued. He really didn't want to draw a lot of attention right now.

Dex knew he was a good looking guy and always drew looks when he went out. Ironic because in high school, everybody had picked on and pushed around scrawny little Dexter Wolf. These days, everybody was in awe of the revolutionary magician D.S. Lupus. He used martial arts and Parkour to whip himself into shape, and did many of his stage shows shirtless, showing off his tattoos and toned physique. He always dressed in the finest clothes and drove a Mini-Cooper, always trying to convey style in everything he did.

But his hard-earned fame also meant he had little time to kick back and relax anymore. This vacation was long overdue, and he thought it best to go visit a quiet place in the rural Northeast where he was less likely to be recognized. A rest was really what he needed, and he looked forward to it as he stepped through the door of the bed and breakfast he had placed a reservation at.

He rang the bell at the desk, looking around for the owner. "Hello? I'm hear for check in under Dexter Wolf."
