Would you like a sub forum for idle chit chat and to hash over the issues?

I have had to move threads that were entertaining or informative, but wonder how you would feel about keeping them here in a mini forum?

Let me know, ay, nay or who cares?

:D

You could consider two separate fora, one for "Story Themes and Requests" and the other for "Author's Discussions of Stories".

I appreciate that the "Authors' Hangout" could do the latter, but it doesn't. Also "General Board" could do it, but Lit is so big now and the GB so popular that a new thread only stays on the first page for a matter of minutes when it is busy and at most a couple of hours. I just checked and it is one hour and three minutes at 09:00 EST on a Friday morning.

IMHO the "idle chit chat" is not idle at all, but is is an essential part of brainstorming. Getting to know one another helps us help each other ( thus the brillance of your "who we are" bio/ signup thread).

Exactly why I would like to find a way to not disturb the socialization process here.

IT could get lost in the other forums. :)

but is the chitchat so prevalent we need to segregate it? seems to me it tends to breakout spontaneously in mid discussion.

But then,I didn't notice threads disappearing, and apparently you moved some. So what do I know?

I try to let conversations move along as much as possible.

I like the repartee, but at what point does it become off topic?

I generally exclude moving anything if the story idea discussion gets mired in hostility etc.

Where have you moved them to? Into the Black Hole that is GB to be lost for ever, or somewhere else? It's 1:55 Sunday lunch EST and the first page of GB is precisely 32 minutes long.

Personally I don't think Story Ideas needs a sub board. We have Author's Hangout and Story Discussion at Lit already. Story Ideas is another one of Lit's specific boards. Laurel and Manu made this board for a specific reason, just as they made the other boards here.

"Cleaning up" posts and threads is a part of having specific boards. Luckily Laurel assigned a Mod to this board before the chaos took over as it had in the Personals while I was gone. (I'd hate to say it about a "board" I moderate, but I don't think Lit really needs "the playground" in the Personals.)

Good points.

It doesn't seem to be a big deal to anyone, so we can table it.

I will do my best to allow free and productive discussion to take place and will not be moving posts unless they become inflammatory.

I may pop in with a reminder that we are discussing ideas, not the days events, politics, religion etc/

How does that sound to everyone?

:)
