A question: votes vs views

What's the usual ratio of views to votes? I get that most people don't vote (gosh darn it), just curious as to what the usual ratio is.
So far I've had over 1000 views in a couple of days, which I'm pretty happy about. And seven people have voted (which I'm ecstatic about)

This gets brought up a lot. There is no ratio. Stories that move people (either by making them angry or hapy) tend to get more votes. Sometimes very hot stories will get lots of votes. Some categories tend to get more votes, but that has a lot to do with the emotional level of the story. Stroke stories get far less. I have a story with 60,000 views, but barely over 100 votes. I also have one with 20,000 views and 500 votes. The one thing you will notice is that people who get a lot of views or votes, will continue to get them. Readers will look for your other stories if they like one. It's good incentive to keep trying to improve (and not being afraid to go back and tighten up old stories from time to time).

Thanks. I was just curious what some of the rest of you saw. Particularly those with lots of stuff up. I know I tend to read authors I've enjoyed reading before. And sex isn't necessarily what brings me back.

I don't like to rain on your parade but 1,000 votes in the first couple of days is really not very much for some categories, although it would be a lot for others. Usually, you get a big rush of votes when the story is on the new list, and after that it slows way down.

Seven votes on 1,000 views is quite good, if you can maintain it. My stroke stories average about .1% votes to views, which would be one in 1,000.

It's in Erotic Horror, which I guess isn't overly popular.
But people are reading it, and that makes me very happy.
Now if I can just get a couple of others finished to my satisfaction and up to join it...

Note that Votes and Views are not necessarily updated simultaneously. Views are updated about once a day. Votes are updated almost immediately.

It is theoretically possible to have more votes than views on the first day of posting.

Yup, happened to me a couple of times. It's pretty freaky when you see it too. LOL. Makes me think I should give up the drink!
