Voter ID laws are racist because they are skewed against the poor, who are overwhelmingly minorities. IDs cost money (which is ridiculous) and the poor can't often spare it for a piece of plastic. As such, abolish voter ID laws or make IDs easier to get. Don't care which.
Gun background checks, however...not sure who said those weren't racist, but I guess those could go either way. If they're designed to keep guns only in white hands, then yes, but if they're aimed at people who really don't need to be having guns, like, say, the people who go out and buy 40 of them, then they're not.
