Ok Do You Lose Your Virginity In The Physical Act Of Sex Or In The Emotional Act Of Being Intimate With Some One

Technically, it's lost when the penis enters the vagina, but I believe people can and should define it according to their own beliefs.

Personally, I think people are no longer virgins when they have sex, whatever they consider that to be. I don't buy into the whole, "we do oral and anal, but are maintaining our virginity until marriage" argument, at all.

In the dictionary, it says when a male enters the orphus..now which orphus that is..is beyond me..but then again..I must be a virgin...cause I've never been violated or entered.

They say that virginity is like a balloon: one prick and it's gone.....Carney

My interpretation is sexual experience with another person.
So a dildo on yourself -> still a virgin.
Another persons fingers in you or even them using the same dildo -> no longer virgin.
Can't help but think of Madonna: "Like a virgin, touched for the very first time"

Both, of course.

Virginity was special only for the female in most cultures. A custom that evolved out of STD avoidance, (speculation) or assurance of succession? Perhaps it had some additional value or meaning for nobles who were... less than impressive, shall we say?

In modern society, it seems to have become an allegory for a loss of innocence. Given our broadband exposure to porn, I doubt innocence/virginity means anywhere near the same thing it used to. When it comes right down to it, 25% or greater of the content on MTV would have been considered a stag film in years past.

So What is virginity? What does your church say? What do your authority figures of choice say? You've made your decision to believe in these people/institutions, go with their teachings.

What is its significance? I'm old and jaded, friends. It is a ritual, and has only the significance the participants care to infuse it with. Like all rituals, the experience is best when shared between true believers. First time, or 100th time through the ritual, it depends upon the participants and their beliefs.

Im straight, so the definition of virginity to me is you have no had sex with a man, and his penis has not been in your vagina. If you've done oral, your a virgin. And anal...well, how many 16 year olds do anal? I'm scared to know!

If your a lesbian, if you've had sex with another female, however you do it...I guess you could say you're not a virgin.

I completely agree erika, these disctinctions seem entirely academic and to be honest, for people who purport to have a deep religous belief (as these couples often do) it seems to me that the sacrifice of chastity till marriage is cheapened by this kind of mindset.

Just sounds like they're cheating at it to such a degree that they might as well go the whole hog lol

I agree.

Things are so confusing nowadays, what with technical virgins, born-agains virgins, etc. I've known "virgins" who have more sexual experience than a lot of married couples!

It wasn't all that uncommon at my high school; lots of folks "rode the Hershey Trail" and then liked to lord their "virginity" over others.
