A Question about the Post Office

If a package is mailed to you aren't they supposed to leave it at your door if it doesn't require a signature?

The post office sucks. Don't they know that people work during their hours and can't come pick up shit.

I don't think they will if it is in a plain brown wrapper with no return address.

dunno

I know if I get anything UPS or Fed X to my house they always leave it at my door. The post office always makes me pick it up for some reason...odd I dunno.

Actually, I wish they would just leave a card, because where I live, if I don't answer the buzzer they leave it with the doorman, and then I have to give him a tip when I get it from him.

they can't

when you drop something in the blue box or hand it over the counter, it becomes the charge of the federal government, and it is a federal crime to attempt to interfer with it. so the mail carriers are charged with delivering it to the party to whom it is addressed, or leave it in an approved receptical. that's why all those goofy mail boxes always say, "approved by the postmaster general."

frankly living in a city as I do, I would much rather it NOT be left on my doorstep...no way in hell it would still be there when I got home!

It just depends really. normaly they will leave you a note in the mailbox saying you have a package though. UPS is the folks who leave it at the door.

The postal service also will put boxes at my front door when I'm not home during the day, just like UPS. Once they didn't and I had to go to the post office to pick it up. Of course, it happened to be a day when we had about 6 inches of snow and the weather was plain nasty. Normally though, the boxes are left and I have no complaint about delivery.
