Not a very good one, but I wrote it for my children this time last year.

Innocence of War

Taking comfort in your innocence of war
So sweet and little
Let me hold you some more

I sing you lullabyes from the past
Crying eyes
Downward cast

Peek-a-boo and Old McDonald's farm
No need to explain a call to arms
Pat-a-cake and ring around the rosy
No fear in your eyes as I hold you closely

Selfishly glad you're too young to understand
How would I explain it?
I don't think I can

I rock you gently in my lap
Not a care in the world
As I lay you down for a nap

Rock a bye baby let me hold you some more
Taking comfort in your innocence of war

thanks ruby, that was sweet. Watching the moment of silence was all the coverage I plan on see'ing today on TV. I did however, give my three yr old a big ole bear hug during that moment.

(he was fussin cause I turned off cartoons for it ;) )

Hi,

I'm new to this site, but if ths is anything to go by I think I'm with some pretty beautiful people!

I can tell that was from the heart. I'm not easily moved but..........................................you got me!

Beautiful Ruby...I was just thinking as my son and I walked back from taking his sister to school how nice it would be to be like him and have no idea of what has gone on in the past year.

That was beautiful Ruby.:rose:

My son was so affected by the 9/11 events that he joined the army. Be glad your girls are little.

I am. I can't imagine how hard it was for you to see your son go.

Thanks again everybody. I'm kinda sappy about my kids. :)
