THE FIRSTS THAT CAME TO BE

She sits there on the front porch swing, driftin’ back through younger years
Lines from all the best days passed, seem to catch her falling tears...
She looks down on her younger heart, the life that she has made
Through ages, times become the past, but some just never fade...

Her first Birthday, her first Christmas, that first giant step she took,
Her first word ever spoken, and that treasured baby book...
Her first tooth, and teddybear, all are firsts that came to be
In a mothers mind the past is etched, a cherished memory...

She watched as she grew older, it seemed much faster day by day,
She witnessed all her baby’s years, slowly fade away...
Now she sat and watched her baby girl, go from training wheels to none
And before she knew what happened, the young girls years had begun...

Her first pigtails, and her braces, then the makeup of her own
Her first crush, and that first kiss, with the boy on the telephone...
Her first best friend, and school dance, all are firsts that came to be
In a mothers mind the past is etched, a cherished memory...

It’s magic to see your baby girl, grow and change through the years,
But like a young bird she too will grow, leave the nest and cause the tears...
“Weren’t you in my arms just yesterday, baby blanket bound,
I still hold you in my arms today, but your feet now touch the ground“...

Her first real date, the junior dance, elected the Prom Queen
Her first true love, first broken heart, first week in the college scene...
That promotion at her first big job, all are firsts that came to be
In a mothers mind the past is etched, a cherished memory...

She’s become quite a lady, that small girl sure grew up fast
But my heart will always take me back, those times will always last...
And even though you can’t remember, all the firsts we shared back then
I promise you, you’ll get your chance, to see them once again...

Her first diamond, that first wedding, the first time she holds so dear
Her first child born, a baby girl, takes her back to yesteryear...
A life so young, has just begun, watch the firsts that come to be
In a mothers mind the past is etched, a cherished memory...

She sits there on the front porch swing, driftin’ back through days now gone
She hears the promise, her mothers words, to see the firsts we came upon...
She looks down on her younger heart, the life that she has made
Through ages times became the past, but the firsts, they never fade...

That was very very nice..it didn't make me too sad..it just made me wish for my own baby..(nothing new to that though really) I think it was very sweet and put together really well..my husband liked it too..*smile
