I think you're doing a great job. I don't know the reason for the hassels some people have started, but whatever they are for does not detract from the way you have handled the nominations. Keep it up!

Just a thought here, after reading the threads revolving around these Awards noinations, perhaps you need a co-moderator. Each of the more popular boards seems to have at least two moderators. Perhaps someone to share the load in organizing this would help you, as you have stated you have been busy...
