Well I picked up a new little toy today. A nice little pocket sized Magellan eXplorist 200.

I've been thinking of picking up one of these for a while but I wasn't really in the market for one yet when I saw this one. Someone had obviously mismarked it at $25.00 but I didn't mind.

So after $25.00 and change I walked out of the store with my new toy. I'm liking it even though the built in maps aren't the most detailed. Tomorrow I'll be heading for my parents place and I'll bring it along to see just how it works.

I'll play with this one for a while and decide if I want to upgrade. (I can't hook this one to a laptop or other computer to get better maps, which would be nice.)

If I like it and decide to upgrade I'll pay the money and get one I can hook into a laptop. Then I can use it as a navigation device for the car. (Wouldn't that be nice?)

Hey this one is better than the ones I played with when I worked for Uncle Sam.

Those are cool, but I've just never felt the need for stuff like that, and very rarely use any kind of map. I just seem to have this uncanny sense of direction - always have.

Hell, first time I drove to Canada I basically flew blind, and found my way just fine. Coulda been luck, though. ;)

Am I the only one who was trying to figure out how his cats could use this? :D

Well if the GPS had a smaller range than 500 hundred feet they could use it to find where I keep their food.

Either that or they could ut in the way points on whre I can find fresh fish for them to eat.

On the other hand we'll see how much fun I have with it.

Just leave it on the edge of a high shelf. They'll find a use for it: "Perhaps that gravity doesn't work here.." *cat swipe* And then all the pieces will be fun to play with.

Oh they love that move. I can't tell you the number of times I've found bookshelvs cleared off. (They obviously aren't Bibliophiles.)

I made brownies one afternoon, cut them into small pieces and left them on a plate on the counter. A few minutes later I came back to find the cat lifting off one bit of brownie at a time with his little paw and tossing them down to the dog who was waiting for them. The cat and I made eye contact and he shrugged his little kitty shoulders and said "Yeah, I think he's an idiot for eating this trash, too, but what can you expect from a dog?"
