Trisha Hansen had a tough job. She was a cop and had the added difficulty in being a female cop. While most of the guys were great, there were a few who resented her being there, and thought that she could not be as good as a male partner. There was an amount of ribbing which she took in her stride. She had to, that was how it worked.
In retrospect, it hadn’t been such a great idea to get hot and heavy with Det. David Brennan. It had been a whirlwind fling. Three months after they first dated, she had moved into his apartment, convinced that wedding bells would be ringing in her near future. Apparently while she’d been hearing wedding bells, he’s been hearing alarm sirens, and after two short months of shacking up together, he asked her to move out!!
Their affair had been the talk of the department, and some of the guys had passed comments that she intended to screw her way to the top. Those same guy were almost gleeful when the love match imploded. If some of the guys were bad, the women were worse. They felt no compunction in telling her that she had made things worse for all women in the department, which Trisha thought was a little over the top.
Trisha’s partner had just gone on Maternity Leave, and she was being assigned another partner, who was transferring from another department. She sat in the Lieutenant’s office waiting to meet her new partner, determined to get things off on the right foot. Her long black hair was in an updo, her uniform fit her size 6 figure well, and she wore a little make up, just highlighting her dark eyes, and a little lip gloss to show off her full lips. Not that she wanted to look sexy. Oh no! She had been burnt enough by that tack, but she looked well groomed, and professional, and was eager to meet her new partner.
