Sorry for stealing your title, Mr. Swift, but...

I read this on the news this morning:

"Senate breaks deadlock, debates Iraq pullout
White House issues veto threat over measure proposing withdrawal date "

Okay. It's about time. However, the Democrates don't have the votes to override a veto. With that in mind, I suggest -

1) Tie the Iraq bill to the every single reasonable item on the Conservative "want list".
2) Tie the Iraq bill to the funding of the White House.

Now, go ahead George. Veto it. Jerry Fallwell will dump you and you won't get paid :D

Do it this once. Then make tying bills to each other a capital offense punished by being eaten alive by flesh ripping lemming zombies. It's the one thing above all that makes me question whether it's a democracy you guys have, or a vaudeville.

We don't have a democracy, we have a democratic republic. Anyone who thinks the USA is a democracy need to read up on our form of government.

Democracy, democratic... Noun, adjective... My resevervation still applies.

Hell, I live in a democratic monarchy. A contradiction in terms if there ever was any.

Mr. Swift? I thought Mr. Maher said that!

The democrats should immediately issue a stern non-binding resolution! And make meaningless angry televised speeches to an empty gallery. Again!

Jonathan Swift (who wrote Gulliver's Travels) wrote a treatis with that title in 1729. The treatis dealt with a Famin of the time. It got him sent to jail for a while.

From Wikapedia:
In 1729, he published A Modest Proposal, a satire in which the narrator, with intentionally grotesque logic, recommends feeding the rich using impoverished infants: ”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food...”
